in case it wasn't obvious in the OP, the venue is Furnace 41

furnace is actually a pretty nice venue. old "breakers" but they completely redid it. there are multiple stages a la masq, with the largest room being probably about the size of old hell, though with a larger stage size. saw raven there a few years back, was a very pleasant experience (getting there right before raven went on probably had a lot to do with it). there's a full bar and even food.

the main problem with furnace is not the venue nor the distance, it's the shit local bands they book on a weekly basis.

it's curious how they're pulling these major national acts over, say, masquerade. wonder what's up. somebody must be fronting some serious dough for a guarantee, especially on that suffo/athiest bill

so not sure when this happened, but now apparently Hypocrisy is ALSO playing the PPUSA preshow (or maybe they're just calling it day 1 this year) on wednesday 6/1 at center stage, along with flotsam and jetsam. $100.

If they had Stratovarius the same days as Flots and Hypocrisy, I'd buy it. As it is, I don't think I will--I was considering it for a bit, but I've seen both of them relatively recently in Hell for like $20-$35 each. Danzig & Cradle of Filth was even less than the price for that.

Danzig was absolutely incredible. Basically a perfect setlist for me of stuff from I thru III. I really enjoy the venues layout and sound, it's really big, but no particular place you're at feels far away from the stage and the sound for this show and the Behemoth show were both good. There is a mezzanine thing that is basically the ground floor you walk in, then you can go down to the floor area below the stage. Then its tiered behind the mezzanine, the first few rows are standing with a bar to put drinks on, then the top last rows are just concrete slabs all the way across so its like huge amphitheatre seating, but not.

I do not like the prices of drinks though, or parking ($20+), or how high all of the ticket prices have been (Opeth/Mastodon, Behemoth/Arch Enemy, Danzig/CoF - all over $50 per). And it is also no in/out. Would suggest paying the same price for shitty beer inside for good beer outside at Three Taverns Imaginarium instead, until it's show time for the particular opener you want to see. Also has the whole security set up.
