AFI didn't turn to shit until their last album. 6/7 for full-lengths isn't bad as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't listened to them since I was much younger, (all I cared about was Maiden, Rush, Coheed and Cambria, and AFI) but I remember Sing the Sorrow being pretty cringe-worthy, save a couple of songs.

Well, they're one of my all-time favorite bands and I haven't seen them in over 2 years...it's really a no-brainer for me.

Any chance you caught them on the tour with mewithoutYou and The Blood Brothers on Halloween?

This is true, but Black Sails in the Sunset and The Art of Drowning are two of the best fucking albums ever made.

& LOL @ your 'much younger' being the Sing the Sorrow days!

Erm, getting back to Suspiria...
I was very disappointed they cut out some of the best death scenes, especially the first sequence. It wouldn't have been so bad if the way they'd cut it made sense, but it didn't. They showed the girl getting grabbed from the window, and then suddenly, she is up in the skylight, with nothing about how they got up there... I think this confused some of the people there who hadn't seen the film before. Also the girl in the wire room and the blind dude getting eaten by his own dog, and the scene with the maggots falling all were cut down. It's been so long since I saw this film I can't remember exactly what happened in the sequences that were cut.
Also, I wanted to bitch-slap some of the audience people who were talking loud.
But aside from all that, it was still freakin' awesome. It's really awesome what the Plaza is doing... wish I lived closer so I could go to more of these.

@kfoll - man that sucks! I fuckin hate when movies are edited/ cut short for time and whatnot. It happens all the time on TV but why at a movie theater? That's just strange...

My guess is the could only find a copy of the US version which is 6 min shorter according to IMDB. Finding 35mm prints of a 30 year old obscure horror film is pretty hard.

Suspiria Pictures

Thanks to all of you for coming out to make the second show if the monthly series, Splatter Cinema a huge success. With DOUBLE the crowd size from last time. We had over 120 people this month!!!! We do apologize about the version of Suspiria we obtained, this was an original US theatrical print. Back when this film was originally released. It was too gruesome for many US theaters so the cut out a full 4 minutes of gore. However, this is one of the only prints available out there, so to get to see this version was still absolutely amazing. You all were great, tell everyone about this and lets make this even bigger and better for next month's showing of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter!
