Haha yeah, i'm pretty critical when it comes to music. I like to think I just have a low tolerance for sub par jams.V03GTLIN wrote:You sound like a music critic, bro. Ha. HA. HA.
I fully recommend you do. Dl'd "Graves..." last night and have listened to it 4 or 5 times through already today. Band rips. Totally crushing dm the way it should be done.GameFreac wrote:I'd never heard of Dead Congregation until this thread. Maybe I should get on that.
Any other bands in this vein i should be checking out?
SPEWTILATOR - Badass motherfuckin' street cops with nothing to lose who don't play by the rules and are out for blood.

yeah dude like scaremaker, with the exception of a few songs, boooooooriiiiiiingRyan wrote:yea i already listen to frightmare, blood freak, ghoul, splatterhouse, vacant coffin, etc. but most of the newer razorback bands just come off as cheap imitations of the good bands they had a few years ago though.V03GTLIN wrote:Yes. yeah man, i think the last thing they put out that i actually liked was acid witch and that's not even the sound razorback is known for. shit like revolting, horrified, crypticus, decrepitaph, etc. is just sub par.SlashAndThrash wrote:yeah dude like scaremaker, with the exception of a few songs, boooooooriiiiiiingRyan wrote:yea i already listen to frightmare, blood freak, ghoul, splatterhouse, vacant coffin, etc. but most of the newer razorback bands just come off as cheap imitations of the good bands they had a few years ago though.V03GTLIN wrote:Yes. They do have grave ritual's full length coming out soon who i like and the new blood freak which should be good... though i hope neal goes back in the direction of "live fast, die young..." as opposed to "multiplex." i also liked what i heard of that tombstones band with Stevo from Impetigo but anything with him in it is bound to rule.

yeah the new roster of bands is crap. I like Horrific's album a lot actually, but its nowhere near the level of shit like frightmare, blood freak, fucking ENGORGED, etc., the glory days are over which sucks. and I think i read a while ago that maniac neil was going to make the new blood freak album more of a doomy direction, which fucking breaks my heart. i dug the fuck out of multiplex massacre, and i liked LFDYaLaFEC even more than that, but i'm just simply not going to sit there and listen to him do a full album of songs like the nameless stench of forgotten celluloid. What i want is a new goddamn frightmare record.Ryan wrote:yeah man, i think the last thing they put out that i actually liked was acid witch and that's not even the sound razorback is known for. shit like revolting, horrified, crypticus, decrepitaph, etc. is just sub par.SlashAndThrash wrote:yeah dude like scaremaker, with the exception of a few songs, boooooooriiiiiiingRyan wrote:yea i already listen to frightmare, blood freak, ghoul, splatterhouse, vacant coffin, etc. but most of the newer razorback bands just come off as cheap imitations of the good bands they had a few years ago though.V03GTLIN wrote:Yes. It is all about Repugnant right nowV03GTLIN wrote:Gene listens to Nuclear Death, Blood, and Impetigo ex-fucking-sclusively.Generubin wrote:Melodies are for posers man.
If you can headbang or mosh to the beat that means it is not fast enough nor is it technical enough. Everything must sound like recorded fart sounds to be death metal. If it doesn't sound like someone is shitting out their guts then it must not be real death metal.
I have only heard one song by Impetigo and I liked what I heard so far. Idk anything about the other two.

As far as the new Razorback roster, I'm sure I'm wrong, but it doesn't sound like there's much "aspiration" there; all those bands are just happy to be participating in the idiom, paying homage, etc. Scaremaker is a hobby band IMO. Horrific, ditto. But there's something endearing and, yes, "fun" about them.
Repugnant they ain't. But there can only be one...
FWIW I really really dig Acid Witch and Vacant Coffin. Scaremaker has a few good tunes (shoulda let the girl sing more), and Horrific is hilarious. Thank fucking Gawd there are bands out there willing to be goofy and not pound you over the head ad infinitum w/ their DOGMA.

Duuuude...IMPETIGO! Get on it! A buddy hooked me up with an old Impetigo tape demo recently. I so need to get a decent tape deck for my rig.Generubin wrote:I have only heard one song by Impetigo and I liked what I heard so far. Idk anything about the other two.
Not Razorback, but similar is Ghoul. I love the shit outta both those bands.
Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick, you speak the truth. That movie made me insane. The first time I saw it was the Plaza in the upstairs theater. There was a fat couple making out violently behind me. When dude's foot started thumping my chair in a steady, but slightly increasing rhythm I was too grossed out to finish watching that piece of shit. I've tried several times since and have never been able to give a shit about that film. Maybe that's what I get for not growing up Catholic...V03GTLIN wrote:If only the DOGMA was as succinct and hilarious as the DSP motto...
