Since I don't want to just repeat what everyone else has said here is my statement about the night: Bill Steer's shirt was the epitome of classiness. Anyways, the set was amazing, even though there was this annoying ass dude next to me. I was also pretty annoyed about the price of merch. It was cool seeing/meeting some of you guys. Hopefully some of you will head over to Kylesa after Obituary.

I agree. I've seen suffocation roughly a dozen times but this was byfar the best one I had seen. It even topped when they said it was their final show at the millwakee metal fest in 2001..
I agree that carcass was quite impressive but I think this show brought me back to why I used to love suffocation.... pure unbridalled brutality!!!!
really, ive only seen suffocation 4-5 times and this one was the worst, they still ruled, but they only play like 7 songs, 3 off the newest, 2 off pierced, and leige of inveracity and one new song, sure they crushed but this was my least favorite time seeing them.....................

That show was the closest thing I've had to a religious experience I've had in some time!

I enjoyed every minute of it! Especially Daath, 1349 and Fuck the Facts. Unleashed, I pretty much listened in amazement as their drummer made Isaac Newton his bitch. I'd actually put him up there with Sandoval and Danny Herrera. And Carcass...I mean, really...damn. I had huge expectations and they surpassed on both counts. I knew Amott still had the chops. But I was really impressed at Bill Steer's playing and Jeff's vox. Seriously, if I could have gone to the FL date as well, I would have.

Damn good to see so many of you fine ladies and gents as always! Those of you coming to Obituary, I'll see you there!

If I hadn't skipped my Thursday classes last week, I'd definitely be there.

@ GameFreac - dude, are you going to Obituary at all? I've seen bodom before more than once and the last time, they bored the hell out of me! Don't get me wrong, I really like that band but uhh...Obituary will be a better show! but if that's your preference, have a good time.
Read post after this....I screwed up with the quotes lol

No I'm not going......I haven't really heard much of Obituary and the stuff I heard I didn't like

Sorry

And as for COB, I agree last time I was so disappointed you couldn't hear the keys or solos and it pissed me off, plus the setlist was horrible

But last night was amazing. They sounded great, Alexi wasn't drunk, you could hear the solos and the keys, and they played a really good setlist.

Wow. Carcass just blew me away. I guess I'm going to have to check into their back catalog.

I got there when Rotten Sound was playing. I have to say, neither Rotten Sound, nor Aborted, nor (blasephemy!) Suffocation did much for me. Death Metal isn't my thing, I think.

I was happy to see 1349. Did I have my earplugs in too far or was there sound a little muffled -- I coudn't really hear the guitar. Except for that and their set being so very short, I really enjoyed their show.

Like I said, I'm definitely going to have to pick up "Heartwork," at least

Some several folks, MS_1230918235971325, SBG, Brian, and I had the privilege of meeting The Rothstanator for the first time.

Definitely check out Heartwork...and Necroticism if you can find it.

I didn't think 1349 sounded muffled at all. They keys made the guitars a bit harded to distinguish, but I thought that was what they were going for tone-wise. Sounded good to me.

If you weren't digging Aborted or Unleashed, you should have checked out some of the bands playing downstairs. I only saw a little bit of Fuck the Facts, and very little of Psyopus, but it was cool shit! Very different.

...Just a great night all around.

uhhh Unleashed wasn't on this gig? They're here on Tuesday.

Daath, I hereby eat my previous words on that one, was quite surprised at how they've come along, quite good stuff.

I can see how some people don't like Aborted's newer material, I however don't really mind their direction shift. Theres plenty of straight up brutal business out there. Really enjoyed seeing them, good sound, and if you can drum that tight, you can look like a douche.

Rotten Sound was good stuff, always good to see some grinding.

1349's sound was great I thought, I was personally more excited to see them than Carcass being a close second. Neck is still ruinous from their set. I enjoyed them a bit more in Hell their last time through town, the energy was more intense and compacted.

Suffocation was tight as fuck. Enjoyed the little flourishes added to the songs. When Mullen talks about hearing voices, I believe him.

Carcass was fucking fantastic, would've loved to hear more early stuff, but they were undeniably tight.

Good to see who I did, enjoyed it.

My neck and liver are still reeling form this one.

Aborted was the only band that didn't do anything for me. They sounded alright, but I was hoping for a show void of breakdowns.

I was so high during Suffocation that I thought I had completely ruined the night for myself, but I drank myself back into consciousness after their set, and it resulted in Carcass sounding better than I could've ever imagined. The smoke machines and lights were a perfect accompaniment.

Overall, it was the best show I've ever seen. Just wish it would have lasted four or five hours longer.

D'oh! I know. I'm playing that show.

I've just been transposing the two constantly for the last few days.

I think I've seriously brained my damage.

I'm always late posting on these Friday shows... I'll put my two cents up for 1349 being runner-up to Carcass despite the really short set. I kind of think they sounded better in hell last year with two guitarists. And as always, good seeing everyone out again (almost all of you this time).
