no worries. I haven't ever heard of many of the extreme death metal bands mentioned in various threads here either. But they all seem popular in this community. And it's ALL metal - no matter how you slice or grind it, right?
Circle II Circle is a melodic power metal act whose lead singer - Zak Stevens - was the frontman for the traditional power metal act
Savatage through the 90's primarily. He broke away from them in 2001 to form his own band CIIC. They have played ProgPower on two occasions, the second time headlining the Thursday Night Showcase.
Halcyon Way are an aggressive progressive power metal act local to the Atlanta scene. They were one of the first acts to have played the ProgPower 'Pre-Show Party' which eventually grew into the Showcase. Then last year they were called upon to open the Showcase when a German headlining band could not make the event at the last minute. Halcyon Way performed to rave reviews. Their debut album is currently being mixed and mastered by James Murphy (Death, Testament, etc), and should be released Spring or Summer of 2008.
Odin's Court is a progressive rock/metal act from Maryland who are heavily influenced by the songwriting styles of everyone from Pink Floyd to Rush to Queensryche. They opened the Bay Area Rockfest in San Fransisco last year. And they've been interested in bringing their interesting style of music to Atlanta for quite some time.
Eclipsed by Sanity will be opening the show with their brand of power/thrash metal. Think Iron Maiden meets Testament meets Lamb of God. EbS has a dynamic stage show with a rich traditional metal sound tempered with modern thrash.
anyway, sorry to hijack the thread to a degree, I just wanted to explain the sound of each band. You can go back to the Feb 2nd Circle II Circle thread and find links to each band's site for sound samples.
Hope to see everyone there!
