agreed!! especially on wknights man. No time for bullshit!!! We all know it sucks to be rushed on and off stage but it does help to keep things running smoothly.

Ugh. That's pretty inexcusable, especially on a weeknight.

It kinda baffles me that people let shows run that far behind. Granted, my shows rarely run on time, but there's a big difference between starting 30 min to an hour late and still being over at a reasonable hour and shows starting so late and bands farting around to the point where someone doesn't get to play.

I booked the show. I was never told that the show had to be over by a certain time. Neither of the local openers including my band played long sets. My band Beeravore took the longest to set up besides Process because our guitar player was wasted(he was celebrating his 21st birthday) and he couldn't find his cables so I had to go borrow some. It wasn't intentional by any means to have the show run late. Keep in mind there were five bands and the first band didn't go on till 9.30.

Too many bands for one weeknight, especially at the archive. If booking more than four bands next time please make sure it starts earlier. Show ended around 1 a.m. btw.

I am really sorry that Living Decay didn't get to play. I expressed to them how sorry I was and how I knew that it was not a cool thing to do. They were understanding and said they were tired anyways. I'm sorry to those that came to see them. I had no choice but to cancel their set when it was 1am, and the owner is breathing down my neck to get us out of the facility. If I burn bridges with the owner, their will be no more shows there. It wasn't my call, I was just the bearer of bad news.

I give most of the blame to Beeravore, they took entirely too long to set up. I went to the stage and asked them to hurry. Then, I said you have to start right now. Then, after several minutes went by and there wasn't even any sound checking or anything, I said, this is really unacceptable, If things keep going like this, you're not going to be playing here again. Your set is starting right now, you have 15 minutes from now to play.

Granted, they still went over their set time.

I understand he was drunk, it was his birthday etc etc but there is a time when taking care of business should come first, then you can party and get as trashed as you want after. This was not the case at this show.

I also hurried the touring bands along, but everyone seemed to keep taking their sweet time and allotting 20 minutes for pre show rituals. etc etc

This show was good, and I'm glad everyone came out, and I'm sorry it took forever to get it over with.

Thank you everyone for being understanding at these DO IT YOURSELF shows, where often times 1 person is trying to play 5 roles of getting everything going smoothly. Thank you to those who step up to the plate to work the sound booth, have exact change and pay for the show, tip the bartender and help clean up after the show.

I'm sorry but we didn't take THAT long. There was obviously too many bands on the bill and I had no idea the show had to be over by a certain time. Honestly I've never heard so much complaining from a venue before. We said we were sorry what more do you want. I booked the show and brought enough people out to where it was a good show for the most part. But don't worry we do not plan on asking to host anymore shows at The Archive Gallery.

I also mentioned that Process of Suffocation took a long time doing pre-show 'rituals' and things of that nature that took a lot of time, it wasn't 100% Beeravore.

Despite the fact that it is a weeknight, and people have jobs to go to in the morning, everyone should know by now that 12 midnight is a pretty acceptable time to have a curfew for a venue.

Everyone knows that in Atlanta we have to take what we can get in the ways of venues. I'm sorry that the owner 'complaining' about what is being done with his space is a problem. Let's try to remember that I do not own the Archive Gallery.

Yeah this all sucks ass, but Melanie is right, if there's 5 bands on a weeknight start it fucking earlier.
Last Sunday for Germ Attak we had like 6 bands (some of which hopped on from FL), and the show ended just before midnight, cause we started at around 8:45.
Granted these were punk sets that were shorter than metal, but if you're gonna pray to the devil, or whatever pre show rituals you guys are talking about, do it quicker.

I always think it's so fuckin funny when bands do this kind of shit. I can't take 'em seriously if I see this hahahaha!

But yes, starting at 9 at the latest, and 15 minutes for set up/ break down should be pretty standard. No drunken bullshit or stupid rituals please! Save all that for later!

Also, one thing I have noticed and this is completely out of any bands' control is that sometimes we'll be waiting outside till nearly 8 before someone comes and unlocks the door. That really doesn't help things either. They need to unlock it at like 6 or 7 so that whichever band is there already can soundcheck and all that jazz.

Wow. everyone is really harshing on the Archive, thanks guys. We try to be there right at 7, and are most of the time, sometime things like working late, and urban transportation slow us down. We make a conscious effort to be there by 7. We have lives too, this isn't the only thing we have going on. The owner has the only copy of the keys, and when I get the keys I am there by 7.

I wouldn't take it personally, Mel. Shit happens. It's nice when things run on time but sometimes they don't and there's a million factors that go into that. I was late as shit getting there for Inter Arma to set up the PA cuz I had to work late, but as long as the bands are making a conscious effort to be speedy in their set up/break down times and keep their set times reasonable (30 minutes TOPS unless you're playing last) and someone get's the first band on at a reasonable time then things usually work out alright.

I agree with Ryan, don't take it personally darksided, All my metal friends talk about the archive gallery all the time. I plan to play there with the Doom kinda band I just started up with Shane. Its awesome that your doing this for the scene. Unfortunetley there will always be 1 or 2 Turds trying to mess things up for people trying play there again.... Its sad and I hate there is always a disrespectful ass turd among us always at every show... Not that they do that intentionally, but are to dumb to know its fucking everyone else's chance to play there. There should be a kind of leader in every band to make sure things are happening and if they are not he will make sure it happens or it will fall on everyone in the band.... end of story. So what I'm saying is we are all greatful that you have enabled us to play shows at a awesome venue on behalf of bands of atlanta. And I hope it continues. Count me in on helping you guys out if I'm out there and you guys need it. I'm multi talented lol.
