I am really sorry that Living Decay didn't get to play. I expressed to them how sorry I was and how I knew that it was not a cool thing to do. They were understanding and said they were tired anyways. I'm sorry to those that came to see them. I had no choice but to cancel their set when it was 1am, and the owner is breathing down my neck to get us out of the facility. If I burn bridges with the owner, their will be no more shows there. It wasn't my call, I was just the bearer of bad news.
I give most of the blame to Beeravore, they took entirely too long to set up. I went to the stage and asked them to hurry. Then, I said you have to start right now. Then, after several minutes went by and there wasn't even any sound checking or anything, I said, this is really unacceptable, If things keep going like this, you're not going to be playing here again. Your set is starting right now, you have 15 minutes from now to play.
Granted, they still went over their set time.
I understand he was drunk, it was his birthday etc etc but there is a time when taking care of business should come first, then you can party and get as trashed as you want after. This was not the case at this show.
I also hurried the touring bands along, but everyone seemed to keep taking their sweet time and allotting 20 minutes for pre show rituals. etc etc
This show was good, and I'm glad everyone came out, and I'm sorry it took forever to get it over with.
Thank you everyone for being understanding at these DO IT YOURSELF shows, where often times 1 person is trying to play 5 roles of getting everything going smoothly. Thank you to those who step up to the plate to work the sound booth, have exact change and pay for the show, tip the bartender and help clean up after the show.
