metal books?
I was wondering if y'all had read any books on metal or had any recommendations. I remember hearing about one called Choosing Death about death and black metal.
Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.
This is pretty much on the fringe of metaldom these days but the recent Motley Crue autobiography is a pretty damn entertaining read.
I got hooked after the first page, particularly the line that read something like "Back then, Tommy kept around his ugly ass girlfriend just because she put out and could spray her cum across the room." It's all gravy from there.

I've heard lords of chaos is pretty good. I'm about to start reading it. Though Varg Vikerness isn't particularly fond of it. He says that a good bit is made up and that things are stretched.Matt wrote:chosing death is pretty good, i read it about a year ago. its about death metal and grindcore. they leave out a lot of really important bands though in my opinion. and they go way too far in depth with napalm death.
lords of chaos is alright too, i dont know how much of it is legit though.
Funny that this comes up, because I was randomly reading the Wikipedia article on him a few weeks ago...Pat wrote:I've heard lords of chaos is pretty good. I'm about to start reading it. But anyway, are you more likely to believe a writer or a neo-Nazi, explosive possessing murderer?
"In October 2003, Vikernes failed to return to his low-security prison in T?nsberg, Norway, after having been granted a short leave. Vikernes was apprehended by police after hijacking a car. He was found with an unloaded AG-3 assault rifle, 700 rounds of ammunition, a number of smaller weapons, a handheld GPS system, communications systems, a PC, military uniforms, a bullet proof vest, and camouflage clothes."
Dude would be in prison FOREVER if either the murder or that escape scenario went down here.
He's supposed to be out on parole this coming year, but I'm betting he never gets out of Norway again.
Hah.
Varg likes the book; not the fact that it's being made into a movie.Pat wrote:I've heard lords of chaos is pretty good. I'm about to start reading it. Norweigens are weird. Dude had all that shit, they caught up with him and he goes "alright, ya got me". No fight or anything. What a crazy weirdo.holly wrote:Funny that this comes up, because I was randomly reading the Wikipedia article on him a few weeks ago...Pat wrote:I've heard lords of chaos is pretty good. I think that movie is already done, because the reason I was looking at dude's Wikipedia site to begin with was because I stumbled on this random person who was talking about seeing it on their LJ.Mike wrote:Varg likes the book; not the fact that it's being made into a movie.Pat wrote:I've heard lords of chaos is pretty good. I want to know what his plan was.Mike wrote:Norweigens are weird. Dude had all that shit, they caught up with him and he goes "alright, ya got me". No fight or anything. That's a lot of shit for one dude to be hauling around.
I feel like some shit will go down when they let him out.
However, I bet you anything that there are many less people like this in Norway than there are in countries with more stringent sentencing systems BECAUSE Norway is lax.
It's all about appropriate conditioning.
OK, please kill me for talking about this outside of class.
Dr. Marr's babbling is seeping into my brain.
Lords of Chaos was interesting about five years ago, but it's all dramatically written, and some of it's accounts are dubious. Some interesting bits.. the real story about the Burzum saga, can be found at www.burzum.com as Varg recollects.
May I forever be impaled by AIDS-infested Turkish cocks in a norweigen prison. The correct web adress is www.burzum.org
Sorry for the multi-posts, but I'll just save everyone the time.

Varg's review of the book. When I read it years and years ago, it had the feeling of a Tiger Beat or Metal Edge rag with alot of sensationalism.

I have Lords of Choas. I read it in about 3 days...it's a good (entertaining)book.
I have this other book called Sound of the Beast...it's a history of metal but it goes into Metallica alot. It does have a chapter on the whole Norwegian black metal scene though.
I've been meaning to read The Dirt of Motley Crue...that should be a great one!
