No one ever said he was.
It's pretty common knowledge that he's from New Orleans.

First Down album > Full Metal Jacket reference. FIRST DOWN ALBUM, METAL BANDS. other bands, drugs, evidence of drug usage.

I think that's about right.
Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.

i can't get with the whole pantera ripped off exhorder train. exhorder was never in the same league as pantera musically or vocally. its hard to say phil ripped dude off when he outsings and outscreams him on every friggin track.

sorry, i just think the whole ordeal is way overblown. exhorder was mediocre......pantera was a huge part of metal history. you truley can't deny the fact that almost every american metalhead that was around in the early 90's was infact into pantera.

i think it just boils down to the fact that pantera got huge. if they wouldn't have gotten so big people wouldn't be so hard up to knock'em down. and whats so perplexing is the fact that they got more extreme the bigger they got and people still want to bitch.

There's no denying that Pantera was huge but in the early 90s I completely dismissed them due to their hair-farmer origins. Exhorder mediocre? Hardly - at least Slaughter in the Vatican was an awesome album. They weren't nearly as polished as Pantera but I've always credited them as a more "true" thrash band, whatever the fuck that's worth. Pantera had the luxury of being on Atlantic records while Exhorder was a typically shat upon Roadrunner band - "give us two albums, pay for your own tour expenses and good luck!" To me it's somewhat comparable to Tesla/Edison arguments.

And we're all very proud of you, but you should try taking an English class or two.

As for Pantera being hair metal before they got awesome - so what? Are you going to dismiss everything Metallica did because of St. Anger? I realize that's the reverse but the logic is the same. Youthful indescretions happen - at least they realized their mistake and made good music afterwards, unlike the washed up hair bands still trying to recapture the glory now.

i understand that the hair metal origins throw some folks but most every musician has played some music they are a little ashamed off. i know i have, i wasn't always as cool as i am now........i know thats hard to believe, but its true.

oh, and let me just say this as well......

pantera sounds as much like exhorder as exhorder sounded like FORCED ENTRY, SACRED REICH or THE CRUCIFIED. and other bands that were doing a very groove laden thrash at the end of the 80's
