Anyone else have problems w/ Musician's Friend?
Last time I had such a negative experience that I swore I'd never order from them again...but good prices and the fact that they take Paypal suckered me in again. Long story short, 4 packages were confirmed to be on their way, and I've only received one of them and it has been 9 days. 2 of the packages were "left at my front door" at a time when I was home, and I don't have them, and the other package is just lost somewhere in FedEx's system...and of course nobody from either Musician's Friend or FedEx is going out of their way to make sure that I get the gear I ordered or the money back, and we have a show in 16 days

My main problem with them is they are owned by Guitar Center, the worst music store ever invented. (Well, except maybe for Mars, but mercifully they have gone six feet under).E.J. Diarrheaspray wrote:Last time I had such a negative experience that I swore I'd never order from them again...

Musician's Friend...
None of us have EVER had a problem with Musician's Fiend. They've always been great about their backorders, and follow ups, as well as any returns - they've been extremely helpful.
The only problem that I have personally had with them is their decision to switch over to FedEx from UPS. I am a huge fan of UPS, and I am of the belief that I was able to receive shipments more rapidly with UPS, but nevertheless...
Your experience sounds like a nightmare. All fo my personal experiences have been excellent, and I've been ordering from them since '99.
Zzounds and SamAsh both fucking blow, so that pretty much only leaves the fiend for my ordering. SamAsh is fucking awful, I DO have a horror story from them, but never MF.
Hope everything works out with your order.

UPDATE: It seems like the FedEx driver dropped off 2 packages to the wrong address and they can't recover them, and they also have no idea where the other package is. They filed a claim on all the packages and Musician's Friend is making me wait until the claim is finished (minimum of 8-10 days, but can be much longer) to refund me. At the minimum, they could've either re-sent my order as soon as FedEx lost the packages or sent the money back to my Paypal account, because I obviously do not have their merchandise. It's not like I ordered anything one of a kind or extravagant, I spent $320. I feel very ripped off and nobody at MF will help me out.
Last time I ordered from them, the FedEx driver never went to my parents' house because someone told him that the address didn't exist, and of course the people I talked to on the phone couldn't tell me anything specific about where the package was. I eventually drove to their warehouse, which was about 70 miles away, only to open the package and discover they put something totally different than what I ordered and what was on the packing slip in the overnighted package. So then we battled with MF trying to get them to send the right item, and they didn't want to do it until they got their EQ back, and kinda acted like it was our problem that their warehouse made a mistake. It took 4 hours of bickering to get them to send the right thing as soon as UPS confirmed that we dropped their package off.
NEVER AGAIN am I ordering from them. There always seems to be a problem with either getting what I order and/or FedEx

Well.... if you like Guitar Center, you'll LOVE Musicians Fiend becuase they're the same people. I wouldn't shop from them unless I absolutely had to. I would recommend www.sweetwater.com. They're evil, but less evil than Guitar Center.E.J. Fuck Sweetwater
If you had a good experience with Sweetwater, then you are damn lucky. Last year I ordered some Pro Recording Monitors (which I have now, thanks to E-bay) I laid down $700 and waited...and waited...and waited...and...ya get the idea. Then I called them to find out where the hell my speakers were and they said "Oh...we don't have those in stock." Thanks for telling me shithead. Then they said it woud be about 2 months until they would get them in, and they gave me the date that they would be coming in. Soooooo...I waited again...2 months later...nope...don't have them...and they didn't know when they were going to get them. Fuck those guys!

Re: Fuck Sweetwater
I did say that I think they're evil. They will fuck you occaisonally, but most of the time it's smooth sailing wheras musicians friend is a constant retail cluster fuck. I've bought most of my studio gear and live gear from sweetwater without issue. Guitar center/musicians friend seems to almost always be a problem to shop at/with.unblessed wrote:If you had a good experience with Sweetwater, then you are damn lucky.
