Has anyone heard this and have an opinion? At full volume it sounds pretty badass to me.

I havent heard it yet, but from people who have I have heard completely mixed opinions. One area they can all agree on is that is no effigy of the forgotten.

One guy said tracks like "Bind Torture Kill" and "Misconcieved" fucking slayed and that the disc ruled.

Another guy gave it two thumbs down and said it sucked royally.

Who knows, Ill have to hear it for myself.

People that say it sucked royally have their heads up their asses. If someone doesn't like it because it isn't an exact replica of previous Suffocation albums they're missing out, but I can see their point. They're still an excellent death metal band so sucking royally is impossible.

it wouldnt take a brain surgeon to realize that it is not another effigy of the forgotten, just as no one is expecting the new iron maiden to be like number of the beast, but i have listened to it all the way through and it definitely slays souls to deny. its solid, not their best, but worth picking it up or listening if you dont have it yet. plus im not a huge fan of song remakes but i also thought suffocation did it the best, they redo "prelude to repulsion," a song from the legendary breeding the spawn and it kicks ass!!!

I like it. Not their best, but still really good and definitely worth your while.

I'm definitely digging what I'm hearing so far here in my first listen. I've rewound the fucking awesome breakdown in "Bind, Torture Kill" about 4 times now, mostly because I'm at WREK right now and it's pissing all the indie rawk kidz off to have to listen to this with me.

You just summed up my entire reason for working at WUOG. The best part is I've won over several of them to liking a few metal bands and going to local metal shows. I also like blasting Napalm Death for my jamband loving roomates.

I just got this, I think its pretty good. I like the material on this CD better than most of their other Discs, but the same Suffocation Problem hasnt been solved. Shitty production. I thought Souls to Deny was really weak and this one I think isnt weak at all except for one area, the guitar tone! The distorted guitar tone really waters down the overall feel of this disc. I hate the guitar tone on Souls to deny and this. I think if they went back and redid the guitar tone on this and gave the distortion more of an "edge" It would be a fantastic CD. All in all I like it, my only two beefs, naming it "suffocation" I wouldnt have done a self-titled album, just me, and of course the guitar tone. Ill be anxious to see these songs live.

I haven't heard the new Incantation, but new Amon Amarth is awesome. Better than Fate of Norns I think (though Pursuit of Vikings is a great song).
The new Suffocation is really solid in my opinion. I've just listened to it a couple of times but it seems more "listenable" than some of their older stuff.
