DVD replication

Post by kfoll » Sat October 28th, 2006, 2:35 pm

Does anyone know of a place that does low volume DVD replication? There must be some place that does. All the video magazines I get have ads for DVD replication services, which are usually under $1.00 apiece, but you have to get like 1,500 minimum.

I have tried like hell to get more of this video finished but there's always some catch, mostly revolving around the time it takes to burn a DVD, ad the fact that it uses almost 100% of my computer's RAM and CPU, which makes my computer useless during the time it's working. .. Last Saturday, for instance, I waited 4 hours for the one for From Exile. That's a ridiculous amount of time... what I'd like to do is just make one master and have someone else make all the duplicates. But I can't afford to be forking over a grand for a bunch of DVD's I'd never be able to get rid of.

So this post is to see if anyone knows where to get this done, but it's also to see who all wants copies of what. so I'll know how many I need to have made. You can email me, pm me, reply to this thread, or whatever... please give me an address to mail it to unless you know for sure we'll see each other; and if that's the case, make sure to remind me before that happens so I'll remember to bring your copy. Otherwise I tend to forget who wants what, and half the time I don't even know you when I do meet you in real life. That's what's happened so far with the Meehans DVD anyway.

Here is a list of all the shows I've taped so far:

Anal Secretion/Sybaritic/Ground Xero/Ecryptus/From Exile/Vyserith - July 10 @Meehan's
Novum Organum - Aug 25 @Highlander
Stoneline/Legion X/SMI (half the SMI footage is missing due to lost tape) - Sept 15 @ Ziggy's
Legion X last night @Masquerade
Waited/Music Hates You/Zoroaster - Sept (something) @10High
From Exile - Oct 5 @Masquerade & Oct 21@Home Park *DVD will most likely include the Meehans stuff too.
Regiment/Collosick/Dark Aslyum - Oct 7 @Darkside
Sybaritic(Last 3 or 4 songs only) & Organ (WIth special guest vocalist Andy___ from Out for Blood) - Oct 17 @10High
Demiricous/Withered/Grave/Vital Remains/Dismember - Oct 6 @Swayzes
Left Hook/Selva/State of the Art - Sept 30@ Breakers
Goatwhore/Celtic Frost - Last night @ Masquerade

it might just be easier to burn them yourself, or if anyone you know has a dvd burner have them do it.

well, like I said, it takes so long to burn it's hard to say when I'd be able to get them done. I should also mention that I'm about to be doing some paid freelance work so all this will have to be put on the back burner when that comes in. I literally can't do anything at all while the DVDs are burning, or I'd try to do some other work during that time. I suppose I could set them to burn at night while I sleep, but if I needed to make multiple copies it wouldn't work out because I'd be asleep when it needed to be changed, so it'd have to be one at a time.

Well I tried to email them from their myspace profile last night, thanks MIke... but stupid fucking Myspace apparently decided not to send my email even tho it informed me that the email was sent. Oh well, I guess i"ll send it out the good, old-fashioned way.
I'm really loving this Sony Vegas. It has the most kickass editor for DVD menus. You just drag and drop your media into it, and voila', you've created the DVD, and then you can just add graphics to the media "button" to give it whatever look you want. You can also create a picture compilation -- a slideshow with still images you just drag and drop, and agin you make it look on the menu however you want, and you can add sound to anything in the menus or in the slideshow. So folks, when I make your DVDs for you, expect to get a lot of extra shit besides just the video -- who knows what there'll be in there muahahah!
