I think it would be cool to find someone that has a large plot of land in the middle of nowhere and get some of the bigger bands in the area (Zoroaster, Withered, Daath etc) and maybe a couple of bands from surrounding states to play and just basically have a party. Maybe rent a decent PA if nobody can provide one, get a few kegs and keep the costs pretty low. No fancy shmancy stuff. Bands jammin' on the back porch with some bbq cookin and alcohol flowing.

agreed.

local fests suck........not to be a dick but they do. there have been many local "metal" fests over the years that absolutely no one has cared about. i think throwing a party is a great idea.

and if throwing a party isn't enough i think that just planning a monthly "metal night" at a venue is a much smarter way to go. have a place we can all go and hangout and see some badass locals and regionals play. one night, four bands, lots of beer, good times and loud noises for $8 sounds much more alluring than an all day thing.

and yeah......two DAYS is overkill...........two nights is another story. two nights and 8 bands total sounds much better than all day as well.

Two nights + 8 bands = pretty fuckin' good idea there, Blaze.

Then again, so does a hillbilly-throw down on some land, so long as there is beer.

Novum Organum
TSR
AxDx
Ecryptus
Ground Xero
TKT
Sybaritic

I also think this is better than a once a year multi-day/night fest/party.
To extend the coolness, these could be recorded ala Peel Sessions.

If this happens, Prime Mover would be interested in playing as well.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but what about getting with the 10 High for Habitual Hardcore?
I mean, they do it every week, but maybe we could be involved with them on a monthly basis?
I have no idea what the booking people are like there, so I have no idea how feasible this is.

Hey,

If you're talking about having the 10 High involved for this fest, then I don't know how that would work, but fyi, the guy (Todd) who books Habitual Hardcore is cool as hell.

I'm not saying anything about a fest, because I think it's a stupid idea, too. I'm responding to Blaze's idea about having something more along the lines of a party or a monthly show.

Right on. I'm sure Todd would be interested in involving more of the Atlanta Metal community (quote/unquote) in HH.

May I suggest February 20th!

A weekend would work much better for those of us not living in Atlanta or DJing on Tuesday nights.
Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.

Weekends are always better. (of course the WREK guys and gal are stuck there on Friday nights) I was just replying about the Habitual Hardcore booking. Try to book the 10High on a Saturday and you're fuckin' with their bread n' butta' (Metalsome).

Yeah we could help expand the shows beyond just Dark Overlord, lol.

Also, Friday shows usually end before WREKage starts. We've all gone to them before.
But yeah, how does Saturday affect a Monday show?
