I just dug out some old Slayer and came across their cover of Iron Butterfly's "Inna-Godda-Da-Vida" -- fuckn kicks ass.

well said blaze, and if you look back at previous posts prosthetichead12 in this same thread you will see me listing weezer frequently.... i only dig the first 2 discs though.....good music to relax too... dont know anyone that doesnt like it.... unless youre too underground to like anything not underground....

What album is that on? Blind Guardian covered the same song for the preview EP of A Twist in the Myth.

it's on one of the discs in the box set. i'm pretty sure its on the "shit you've never heard" disc......disc 3 or 4

hell yes it does! I have the original on vinyl as well as the Slayer version...I used to listen to the original alot when I was getting high all the time back in high school.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

That's awesome! Iron Butterfly were way ahead of their time, as were a few others I remember the songs to but not the band names. It's kind of amazing how this stuff keeps coming back to each new generation, and yet it doesnt seem to get talked about as much as say Black Sabbath.
Another dude from the 60s I really dig -- not metal at all, but really good to get high to, is Donovan... you know, "They call me mellow yellowwwww!"
