I want to see this! My boyfriend has been playing the video game Gods of War and it makes me want to see the movie even more!

I know that the video game is mythology oriented but is the movie more about the ancient Greek wars? battle of Marathon?
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

The whole movie was like watching someone playing a video game. I kept waiting for a deep voice to yell "EXCELLENT" or "FATALITY" every time someone's head or arm or leg went flying.

All in all though I appreciate it when a movie is like "here's an hour of a half of gratuitous violence, you know you want this instead of some kind of meaningful plot".

The movie is based off an actual battle called the Battle of Thermopylae, google that if you're interested in the back story.

I agree I think it would have been a bit better had they actually had more time setting up the plot.

I hear the Iranian's loved this movie

I really hope people would already have at least some brief knowledge of that battle.

The film's director Zack Snyder states that "The events are 90 percent accurate. It's just in the visualization that it's crazy... I've shown this movie to world-class historians who have said it's amazing. They can't believe it's as accurate as it is." He continues that the film is "an opera, not a documentary".

I'd agree with that. Besides the movie was based off a comic which was based off of the myth of Thermopylae. It's not as interesting to tell a story and say, there were 300 Spartans! Oh and like 7,000 other guys too.

Why?
What is the point of holding the viewer's hand when the story is completely comprehensible on its own?

Yeah this was pretty much what I was getting at.

Fuck anyone who is getting all uppity about this being historically inaccurate. It's a comic book before it's a history lesson, and by god if it isn't like watching a live action comic book the whole movie.

I don't think I fall into the uppity crowd not that I think you were saying I was. I actually really liked the movie and think frank miller should re do the clash of the titans I think its past time for a remake of that movie.

You don't fall into the uppity crowd at all.

You basically summarized what I was trying to say in about 30 fewer words.

I finally saw this at the IMAX last night. King Xerxes (sp?) had on way too much makeup and gold things...it made him look gay....but other than that I really liked the movie.
