Grunge...alternative...whatever. not the point. I'm not a nirvana fan by any means but I don't think they suck. I don't own any of their albums, but I give them props just for sending hordes of buttrock bands back to delivering fucking pizzas.
Regarding his motivation for suicide, all I can say is that if I was married to Courney Love, I'd blow my brains out too.
Now, to tie this back in, let me get your opinions on this: In the original inside cover of Divine Intervention...do you guys think that's Cobain's suicide pic? 'Cause it sure fuckin' looks like him.

The songs are catchy and heavy as hell (for the most part). Dave Grohl's drumming is absolutely pounding and Steve Albini's production captures it perfectly. That was their last album...looking back it's incredible to me (especially now) that a band so hugely popular as them could make an album so raw in the PEAK of their popularity. I listened to this nonstop in my walkman when it came out and I still think it rules.Brian wrote: I'm not so sure about that. Legendary doesn't always mean good. Nirvana is legendary, but their music sucks. They're incredibly influential but they wrote some pretty bad music. I can see bands like Korn still being relevant 20 years from now, unfortunately.
On the plus side of things though, I can also see bands like Tool and 311 being called "legendary" in a few decades. Not all popular music is total shit, just 98% of it.
i agree about nirvana. i think they were badass. i've been listening to nevermind and in utero a lot lately. both are great albums. i've always loved dave grohl's drumming and i thought cobain was pretty damn clever with his songs.
they are "legendary" for many reasons. they were a huge impact on the world musically and socially. thats what defines legendary.......not technical ability(which really means dick when it comes to great music).
you can call your self a metal even if you dont own reign in blood man,the thing that makes you a metalhead is lisning to metal.Asrynth wrote:I dont know how this thread has digressed or whatnot, but if you call yourself a metalhead and dont own "Reign in Blood" , your just pretending.
I own reign in blood btw...
dave grohl is a bad drummer and his other band THE FOO FIGHTERS are very homosexual

I think that Grohl is pretty damn solid, and pretty creative for that kind of music. Were it not for him, Nirvana would have been hardly noteworthy...let alone legendary. I also enjoy the Probot album quite a bit.Blarg! wrote:you can call your self a metal even if you dont own reign in blood man,the thing that makes you a metalhead is lisning to metal.Asrynth wrote:I dont know how this thread has digressed or whatnot, but if you call yourself a metalhead and dont own "Reign in Blood" , your just pretending.

Definitely not going to argue the homosexuality of the Foo Fighters though.

Mmmmm, he sounded fine at their Masquerade show. I was watching and listening closely since there had been a lot of discussion about Tony's voice in a live setting, but it was a good show.BlackRoija wrote:Yeah. Badly.Vince wrote:I don't support your opinion. The guy can sing.BlackRoija wrote:Thanks for supporting my opinion.
You are, of course, entitled to your opinion abou his voice and his accent. I'll recuse myself since I'm understandably a bit biased.
As for Sonata Arctica being 'pop' in Finland....well, sure. Finns aren't brainwashed sheeple like most Americans are.
