And I'm not afraid to say I'll still give them a listen, for old time's sake. Although most people have their little non-metal listening indulgences, I think we can all agree that metal is the best overall genre.

Oh and by the way, Sonata Artica (and every 'symphonic' band, for that matter), sucks dick. I mean, what the hell is that? Metal mixed with europop?? No thanks. Power metal is getting kind of gay too. There's nothing that they're doing today that old bands like Attacker haven't done in the past.

I'm going to stick to my healthy doses of Maiden, Cauldron Born, Helstar, Manilla Road, Witchfinder General, Fates Warning, yeah you get the picture.
Anyways....Im not going to sit through MM just to see slayer play shit from their shitty new album.

Nomatter how cheap it is.
Wasn't it already stated repeatedly that Slayer always plays a majority of old songs?
Have you never seen them?
yes,I saw them at unholy alliance,Pit area.

The thing is,they will play a few old songs,Not as old as show no mercy, the farthest they will go back is reign in blood. then of course they will play all the same songs they always play, then all their new shit,

I don't want to have to sit through CULT and I don't know why anybody else would

Its not like they will play black magic or anything,I mean c'mon

While I agree to a point that there are some songs you will hear at every Slayer show ever until the end of time (Angel of Death, Post Mortem/Raining in Blood, South of Heaven, Mandatory Suicide), and unfortunately others that you will probably never hear live (Hallowed Point, Temptation)...They have, in my experience, always played a decent helping of older material live. Hell Awaits, Die by the Sword, Antichrist, Chemical Warfare, Captor of Sin...

They played Spill the Blood at a show a couple of tours back. I freaked out. I fucking love that song, and hadn't heard them play it live since the Seasons tour.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

I heard that Slayer is playing only Lombardo era songs since he is back in the band, or at least mostly songs from the albums he was a part of. This should exclude most of their shitty songs for the purists.

I think you mean 'moot'.
BlackRoija wrote:Sonata Arctica needs to find a new singer.
If you don't think Tony Kakko can sing you need to go take some voice lessons and understand the range the guy pushes and the melodies he comes up with. He also writes most of their music so no Kakko means (probably) no SA. Which I suspect is what you're after in the first place.
samsara wrote:I'd like to point out that very few (if any) people start out listening to good metal.
Agreed! If you're going to be a snob about what someone is listening to, make sure you know they're unwilling to listen to new stuff first. If they're listening to Korn and Fallout Boy and are turning down your offers to loan them 'Blessed Are The Sick' then make fun of them.

samsara wrote:Oh and by the way, Sonata Arctica (and every 'symphonic' band, for that matter), sucks dick.
Many of Sonata's slow songs are gayer than most Donny Osmond songs. However I think their albums are more than worth it for the thrashier songs and the occasional epic masterpiece - there's about one per album - that can be moving (check out 'White Pearl, Black Oceans' on their 'Reckoning Night' album).

Back to the point: I'm a Slayer fanboy through and through. I still don't think I can sit through Manson, though. So unless Slayer is opening - which is an emotional thought - or I can leave during Manson or someone (*cough*Blaze*cough*) is buying me adult beverages I don't think I can handle it. Best case scenario: Slayer fans beat up the Manson fans and boo him off stage.

some of the songs off of Antichrist Superstar are good. After that it gets pretty damn gay though.

hehe man that shit is GAY!

anyways...has anyone here heard Manson's new album? It got sent to me at the radio station and I only listened for maybe a few minutes...it's pretty bad.

I will give Manson this though: his music aside, he does put on a pretty cool stage show.[/quote]
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???
