oh, and related to Arsis:
http://www.shivenrecords.com/news.html
One last thing that we should mention. This is something we've been working out for a couple of months and we are now proud to announce that we will be releasing a series of two instructional DVD's by melodic metal prodigy James Malone of the band ARSIS. We are extremely excited about this and James has been hard at work compiling material for these two amazing DVD's. The first DVD will be purely theory instruction by James demonstrating various aspects of advanced guitar playing and the second one will be an entire DVD teaching you how to play, from start to finish, the bands acclaimed first release "A Celebration of Guilt." The videos will be filmed at the Washburn guitar factory and will sell pretty fast. Preorders will begin in December. We'll keep you updated with progress on this as it develops.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT

I was the guy in a black t-shirt and jeans at the show.
Blarg, I am glad you picked up on the Screamo influence. I mean...I guess metal is cool, but it lacks the raw passion and intensity that I try to portray with my vocals. Groundbreaking acts like Hawthorne Heights have always been dear to my heart and I attempt to emulate them with every performance.
Anyhow, I am a evolving musician always looking to improve my skills and expand my horizons. I rarely have anyone provide criticism of my vocals and would appreciate any CONSTRUCTIVE or OBJECTIVE criticism that you may have. As From Exile will soon begin recording our new record, I would like to know what the fans (or haters) want to hear (or not hear) as far as expansion of my versatility or the band's as a whole.
As far as I can tell, I lack versatility in the same manner that any other death/thrash metal band does. Even though I change my intonation and travel along a three or four octave range...and had one singing section during the Enslaved set, I am basically just screaming and making noise.
To the nay sayers, I invite you to take the opportunity to help me grow as a musician and email me with any critiques or suggestions you have (please, email me at imminentmiasma@yahoo.com). Moreover, I invite you to come to a From Exile performance once we begin performing our new (hopefully viewed as more versatile) tunes with our video show back in action and, with any luck, my live vocal manipulation set up brought to life.
Lastly, Blarg, can you please educate all of us as to what a true metal band sounds like and provide a link to some of your band's material? I am quite intrigued. Considering the amount of respect and passion I have for From Exile's compositions (especially the hot licks of the fucking heartbeat, Vince Jarocki), I suspect I will be completely blown away by a real metal band.

about the last paragraph,Your guitarists are good,They put on a good show.everyone else in the band (besides you) were fine, because they werent annoying. But you,...First of all Hawthorn heights?? seriously.
Shit,Onstage your a screamo(not a good thing),annoying,attention whore.
Im no vocalist, but you don't need to be good at somthing to know when it sucks,My advice to your whole band: Kick you out.
I would never willingly go to a from exile show, unluckily you were playing before two REAL metal bands, and I wanted to keep my front row spot,so I had to sit through it.
Obviously your personality is exactly the same offstage as it is onstage.
So im not going to talk about this anymore,If you want to see my band then click on my profile and go to the website or go on myspace or somthing,Although I do not expect a Hawthorn Heights fan to really care about it,and I really hope you don't because if you like my band, then we must be doing somthing wrong.
GOOD DAY
Sacrasm does not translate well onto forums apparently.
This exchange is a mistake as I should not let you be successful in your attempts to stir up emotions. I simply take personal offense to unfounded attacks at respectable artists.
Atlanta metal could use a sense of camaraderie to assist in its advancement. Demeanors like this simply steer others away from the scene and make goodhearted people ashamed to be associated.
I will revert to a medium of communication where one must look me in the eyes when he speaks and has more to answer to than the colors of his computer screen.
Take the music or leave it. There is nothing to be gained from focusing your mind upon music (people/forums) you don't enjoy.
With that...
I'll make my exit.

Alright brohymen, I was at the show and I'll try some of that objective criticism crap all of the kids rave about. I'll also attempt to conceal my disdain for Screamo as best I can.
First and foremost, I would consider learning a few new vocal techniques. Intonation or lyrical ability shouldn't be a concern when your vocal work consists primarily of inaudible feline-like growling.
The only other thing I see that needs fixing is your stage presence. It's likely that you don't notice it, but swaying your head and moving with the music like a dick isn't the most becoming of mannerisms, especially at a Metal show.
Oh, and if you're looking from positive feedback from the audience, you may consider wearing something that doesn't have "End War" printed on it, while the majority of the audience (aside from the few thirty-year-olds who I'm assuming were friends of your band) are wearing Belphegor shirts.

Also, there's something incredibly arrogant and infuriating about someone who, in the same day, creates an account only to confront a specific board member, and still sees it necessary to add not just one, but two fucking quotes to their signature.
