I think all of you guys are reading into this way too much. Of course they're not gonna be some bad-ass metal band with lots of production value. The music isn't supposed to be taken seriously. shit, read the damn lyrics. Besides, I dont think they are "making fun" of metal in a negative way; just creating humor from stereotypes that many metal bands have. Who out there that is a metalhead hasn't made fun of members of bands that they like? I think it's a great idea for a show. Plus, it might get a large populous of atlanta into metal in general. we all know how lacking the atlanta metal scene is compared to other parts of the country. Perhaps this could one day be the saving grace of this lack of metal coming through atlanta.

what I'm talkin about is how many bad-ass tours has atlanta missed out on? I can count plenty. Atlanta's not a huge metal hub. Sure there's tons of local metal bands out there. Most of them aren't really that great. If there was a larger consensus for metal in atlanta, we'd probably have more kickass local metal bands

They animated the cartoon to be in sync with the live show (playing with a click) and performed in very low lighting for almost the entire night (to keep focus on the "cartoon" band) as opposed to the "in the flesh" band that was up on stage. A cool concept and for the most part it was executed well for a "fake" band. There is no denying that Brendon is an excellent guitarist and Gene Hogland was on point.
Unfortunately, the show suffered from HORRIBLE sound quality almost the entire night. The drums were a mess of extreme triggered piercing high end. The sound guy couldn't seem to get the guitar level right at any point. They were either too loud or way too low. Brendon's vocals are pretty bad on cd/the show but they were even less convincing live. There was this low whale like feedback that kept coming from somewhere. I know the band can't really have any control over this but it killed any chance of me enjoying this show.
I guess you really do get what you pay for. In this case nothing.
That's pretty interesting. It didn't even occur to me it was supposed to be the cartoon band "performing." I assumed it was going to be the live band simply on stage playing the songs. Sounds like it would have been cool to watch them try to sync up the cartoon with it.

It was orchestrated very well. I had no idea that it was going to be this way but it definitely made things a lot more interesting than they would have been otherwise. A lot of the "on screen animations" were from pieces of the Episode that the song originally appeared in and there was stuff going on in between songs too. I am certain that it would have been much more enjoyable had the sound been acceptable.
