Storms

Post by Blarg! » Sat March 15th, 2008, 10:15 am

My house was hit fairly bad but no damage...but here comes another storm heading right for north of Atlanta..

The footage they have been showing is amazing..the CNN center,The inside of the Georgia Dome..fucking nuts.

Luckily the second wave of storms is just storms and not tornadoes.

Yeah man the damage in downtown is crazy...I passed by the Suntrust building on my way back home for spring break and there is a bunch of glass everywhere. We were watching the footage last night during WREKage and it looks pretty bad.

There's another storm system after the one from AL coming after.
It originated near Memphis and it's coming tonight I guess.

Yeah I didn't expect that second wave of tornadoes.

The stairs was actually the INSIDE of the World Congress Center.
There was supposed to be some Home and Garden show that they had to cancel because the mains burst inside.
Yikes.

I drove down there tonight because I couldn't resist.
Drove around the park, saw the parking garages that got fucked up and the billboard that got ripped down by the Tabernacle, past Philips Arena, and looped back around and went back up Williams Street.

Such a stupid fucking idea - there's still glass all over the place, cops everywhere...
Barely anything is roped off...I noticed a couple of streets, but for the most part there's still shit in the street everywhere, and I'm talking huge chunks of who knows what still laying in the lanes.
Fucking nuts.

My fiance and I narrowly escaped everything friday. I left band practice in decatur just in time to pick her up from GSU after her radio show. Just a few minutes after we left and got to our friend's place in candler park, the place started shaking. Then I found out that the exact place I was parked at GSU, next to Hurt Park, was covered with downed 150 year old trees! Had we waited just a few minutes to leave.. it would have sucked.

Ah,I see.

Yeah that was a great idea to go down there to look around.

I heard whole sections of the city were without power..I'm surprised there weren't more crimes reported, could you imagine if the lights went out in the Georgia Dome...?

Reminds me of the time when Oppressor, Gorguts, Cryptopsy and... someone else I can't recall, in the middle of Oppressor the power went out and the packed Masq. was dark for about an hour. Was quite impressed how grooved everyone was, joking how Oppressor blew out the power with their heavyness, everyone just chilled, power came back on and gig continued. A badass show.

yeah that was a pretty brutal storm. I'm downtown about everyday for school and it's so weird seeing alot of the skyscrapers with boarded up windows especially around p'tree center marta station. P'tree center was closed the other day because glass was still falling out of the windows even though the storm happened a few days before that. One of my friends lives in the GSU Lofts and the rooms across from hers got completely ripped off...she was able to walk just outside her door and look outside (she lives on the 14th floor). If you know which building is the GSU Lofts, you can see where the tarp is on the roof from Hurt Park.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

Isn't that on the corner of Edgewood and Courtland? If so I have layed a lot of pipe in that building.
