What. The. Fuck.
I packed a lunch, flasks of water, and a few limes so I don't get scurvy, drive all the way up to Swayze's from Decatur. When we turn in the parking lot, I know things are going well. (A) there is no one outside, (B) there are no cars (or vans!) in the parking lot, and (C) the lights appear to be off inside. So, my buddy and I go to Burger King to regroup. Wondering if I somehow fucked up, my buddy calls his wife who confirms that we have the right date and the right venue. Emboldened, we figure that we were thrown off and that, surely, the show is going on. Hopefully, we haven't missed The Sloth. So we drive back.
And the door is locked.
No sign in the door or window indicating that the show has been cancelled. Nothing on the website. It is just that no one else felt like showing up. Or telling anyone that they weren't going to show up.
We retreated to Trackside, in Decatur, where Jagermeister helped ease the sting. But not really all that much.
And I'm still pissed. I was really looking forward to hearing "Hats Made Of Veal and That New Car Scent live. Fuckers.

I was still a little drunk when I wrote all that.
Anyway, it looks like the show maybe was at someone's house instead, and the Iron Sloth got into Atlanta late and didn't play anyway, because someone was having medical issues, or something. It would have been nice if someone would have left a sign at Swayze's, because we would have gone. It is a very, very long time since I have been to a house party.
It sort of sounds like this fell apart at the last minute and members of the other bands scrambled to make the show still happen. At least, that is the way the Iron Sloth's blog on MySpace reads.
