Slayer/Marilyn Manson...again

Post by Brian » Tue January 27th, 2009, 8:40 am

They're co-headlining the Rockstar Festival this summer. July 24 in Atlanta. Also playing are Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium, Black Dahlia Murder, Job For a Cowboy, Whitechapel, God Forbid, and All That Remains.

 yeah seriously.

I'll go for Behemoth, CC, and Slayer of course. The others really make me not want to go though!

I went to this the first time it came around (Manson/ Slayer) and it was gawd awful! This time around, if Manson plays last (like he did last time) I am leaving before he goes on. He's such a whiny little puke.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

I hate when good bands play with a lot of gay bands. Which seems to be the case with like 75% of shows.

Wow, this is a total split bill for me. For every band I like, there is one I really don't.

If they put Slayer, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Black Dahlia and God Forbid on one stage and the others on another stage (or...not there at all) then it would be pretty cool.

Honestly though, if Slayer put out a statement saying that their set would be entirely different from the last 20 times they've been through I'd actually be enthusiastic about going. I'm just sick to death of hearing them play the same 12 songs every damn time they go out.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

I've never seen Slayer, so I don't really care what they play.
Killswitch Engage is rumored to be on this too :(

Here's the stage breakdown:
Main Stage:

SLAYER
MARILYN MANSON
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE

Hot Topic Stage:

CANNIBAL CORPSE
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER
JOB FOR A COWBOY
BEHEMOTH
WHITECHAPEL

Jägermeister Stage:

TRIVIUM
ALL THAT REMAINS
GOD FORBID

Here is what they will play:

Angel of Death
Hell Awaits
Chemical Warfare
Post Mortem
Raining Blood
War Ensemble
South of Heaven
Mandatory Suicide
Dead Skin Mask
Seasons
Killing Fields
Stain of Mind
Bloodline
Disciple
Eyes of the Insane
Cult

They've also started playing Spill the Blood since Dave re-joined...which is nice.

Don't get me wrong, I love Slayer. And if you've never seen them, then these are most likely exactly what you want to hear (except maybe for the new tunes. haha) But I've seen them more times than I can count and the only changes to the set seem to be when they put out an album and they knock off 2 older songs so they can add 2 new songs from the album to the set.

I just think I can't be the only one who'd like to see them change it up a bit.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

Obviously Behemoth and Cannibal Corspe won't be playing at the same time so that's good. I suppose the second stages well be done by the time the main bands play but if CC or Behemoth played while one of the shitty bands on the main stage played then that would be great! So, is Slayer playing last?

This has made me sick to my stomach. WHY!?

Cannibal Corpse of all people should definitely NOT be on this fucking poser filled bill. I can *almost* kinda see Behemoth on here but really.. this is just sickening. I fucking love Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, and Slayer but seriously, this is lame.

I don't know -- I might sit this one out. I've already seen Slayer five times and this bill just doesn't have enough that interests me to deal with the crowds.

The advantage of the Lakewood is that you can play Heavy Metal Parking Lot, which is always fun.

i'm 50/50 on this one...i'm not crazy about seeing Slayer at Lakewood. The $8 beers aren't too cool either. Slayer needs to go back to the Tabernacle. The shows there fucking ruled. I saw Slayer at Lakewood when they played with Sabbath on Ozzfest years ago and it just wasn't the same man, they also played at like 3pm, that was also weird.

I was at that show! I went to the Nashville show and the Massachusetts show that year...I was right up front for the Mass date so for me, it ruled!

i managed to score vip tickets i can't wait slayer is my favorite all time band (got me into metal). so it would be cool if i could at least meet them. for those that don't want to sit through the really gay bands and are just there to see cannibal corpse and behemoth.

cannibal corpse behemoth, bdm, and god forbid are actually doing a show in august that is off the mayhem festival schedule in Spartenburg, SC.

i will be at that
