We were kinda wondering why Halford seemed rooted to center-stage and staring down during some songs, but not during others.... Teleprompter? Didn't look like there was one there. Lyrics cheat-sheets on the stage? I've seen it done before....

Fun show. I'm glad the worst of the rain held off 'til the end of the show. Would have liked to see a few more of their old classics ('Electric Eye' for one) but I ain't complainin'. :)

Allegedly that "position" is the only way he can belt out those tunes anymore. No joke.

that doesn't sound too good. well, he is gettin old...

@Paul - no Electric Eye?!? That's blasphemy!

glad it was a good show...turns out my godfather tried to call me cause he had an extra ticket...I was in the middle of class though so I never got his call. Hell, even if I did go, I would have missed part of their set cause of class anyways.

See that happen to a lot of aging vocalists. Getting those high notes gets harder and harder. Meatloaf seems to have the same issues if you hear his live stuff. Of course, I am sure that even for the young, those high notes night after night are a real bear too.

Dickinson and Araya leap immediately to mind. I think the male voice just deepens over time.

That and the vocal chords just age. Wind is harder to get and the voice box is just unwilling.

David Lee Roth was doing the same thing when I saw Van Halen last year. That squealing thing was nowhere to be found...

Really, though: Halford sounds great. His voice is extremely expressive and strong.

I agree w/ the venue's sound. It was killer.

$5 Lemonade w/ snuck-in Ketel One rules. "Changes" rules. So does "Diamonds & Rust." The North African cabbie that took us back to the Holiday Inn for $8 rules. The clip-on tie wearing manager that said I could not order Krystal drive-thru b/c I wasn't in a car to drive-thru the drive-thru doesn't rule.
dude..no Krystals does suck. We made a Krystal run after the show. Nothing like sliders to make that inebriation/hangover slide right on through.
