I heard the new singer is black, is that true?
I mourn as and with DarkWolfen as our metal hero is gone. :(

yea new singer is black, but people need to remember jerry cantrell was alice in chains, not layne, maybe a tough and ballsy replacement, but its certainly more legit than a soundgarden reunion without chris cornell

Well, black or white or blue or red or whatever, the dude sounds an awful lot like Layne.

On a different note, I must have some defect in taste, because I never quite got why everyone liked Alice in Chains. Soundgarden, sure. Tad, got it. Mudhoney, of course. The attraction to Alice in Chains? I don't get it.

Out of big four of grunge AIC were more metal and dark to me and I really related to it. In the nineties, Dirt, Undertow, and Ten were very important to me. Also, Dirt had a huge drug culture surrounding it.

Alice in Chains has always been solid. Seen em with Layne when I was in 10th 11th(not sure which) grade, with Ozzy and Sepultura. Looking forward to seeing them again. It's a good point that Layne wasn't the band. I think too many people think he was a much more integral to the band than he actually was. Just a singer(an amazingly unique one), but just a singer nonetheless. Just listen to the new album(which is much more than I expected), and you'll know exactly how little Layne contributed besides a voice. I always loved layne, but AIC is still just as good without him IMO. Can't wait for this show.
See you in Hell!

yeah, Jerry Cantrell is Alice In Chains.......he was the man behind almost all of the tunes and also the mastermind behind all the haunting vocal harmonies. He basically wrote all of the music, almost all of the lyrics and almost all of the melodies. With that being said, Layne was a huge part of their success.

Facelift and Dirt are both genius albums[/i]
