Obligatory Best Releases of 2009 Thread
The new year is almost here. So what were everyone's favorite releases this year? Here is what I can think of so far:
Zoroaster-Voice of Saturn
WITTR-Black Cascade
Saviours-Accelerated Living
Kylesa-Static Tensions
Ahab-Divinity of Oceans
Krallice-Dimensional Bleedthrough
Giant Squid-The Ichthyologist
maudlin of the Well-Part the Second
Grizzly Bear-Veckatimest
Why?-Eskimo Snow
I also enjoyed stuff from: The Entrance Band, Nachtmystium, Tegan and Sara, Dead Man's Bones (Ryan Gosling's band!!!), and Njiqahdda (they release something like every 3 weeks).

Off the top of my head in no particular order...though the year isn't quite over yet and there are still a few that I have yet to get my hands on.
Ahab - The Divinity of Oceans
Mournful Congregation - June Frost
Abstract Spirit - Tragedy and Weeds
Urgehal - Ikonoklast
Katharsis - Fourth Reich
Antaeus/Katharsis - split 7" (exclusive killer tracks)
Temple of Baal - Lightslaying Ritual
Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II
Meat Puppets - Sewn Together (not even remotely metal, but one of my favorite releases this year)
Absu - self titled

Hard to say because I have a few that I have yet to check out.
Absu's self intitled
Azarath - Praise The Beast
Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague
Destroyer 666 - Defiance
Dying Fetus - Descend Into Depravity
Ensiferum - From Afar
Kreator - Hordes of Chaos
Old Man's Child - Slaves of the World
Suffocation - Blood Oath
Týr - By The Light of the Northern Star
Vreid - Milorg
Nile - Those Whom The Gods Detest
I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them right now. These are just off the top of my head. I haven't heard much of Vader's and Hypocrisy's new cd to really give my opinion.

I didn't even know D666 or Old Mans Child had new albums lol I must go find them!
