Jucifer: Dec. 3rd @ Lenny's

Post by V-GER » Fri November 27th, 2009, 8:27 pm

Have heard a lot of this band from their wall of amps, their cheap equipment and their heavy crushing sound, although they do tend to create some poppy and melodic songs too! Oh and they also have a girl singer which I dig women up front, rawrrrr! Will be checking them out though.

If I remember correctly, also on this bill is Telestrion (very talented, heavy proggy shit with a strong lean to Black Sabbath), Armazilla (awesome heavy stoner type shit) and Whores (just fucking Heh Vee).

Great bill all around. Support all these local guys.

Alright -- here's where I out myself. I know that they didn't have any respsect on this board, but Artimus Pyledriver put on really fun shows.

Whores is Travis Owen's band. (He was the maniacal drummer.) I've only heard the myspace, but they are a strange combination of Cherubs, Unsane, and ... something else. Derivative, maybe, but I fucking love this kind of shit.

Well what a great show! Of course I ran into Tommy, oh thanks man for turning me on to Let The Night Roar, excellent tunes! Telestrion was trippy stoner band that did great and did a few covers, Interstellar Overdrive and Journey To The Center Of Your Mind. Armazilla played some good rock-n-roll/metal. Whores was very good and the drummer was fanatical. Jucifer was by far the one of the best shows I have seen since I have been here. I am surprised they are not bigger then they are. From the super downtuned, feedback laden guitar feeding through their wall of cabinets to the tribal creeping drum fills. Also as Amber was performing, she also controlled the light show from a floor pedal system. Have never seen anything like this before. here are a few pictures. Nothing much better then this!

Great photos, man. I'll probably never own a Jucifer record, but they're quite a live spectacle. I could have watched Telestrion all night. I like those guys more each time I see them.
