i wouldnt say worst of the year... im sure there were plenty of unbelievably shitty releases this year that we havent heard of... but it was definitely bad. they get worse with every album... waste em all is still their best with hazardous being a close second

Wow there's a lot of stuff mentioned here that I need to check out. There's a lot of 2009 stuff I've listened to, but not gotten familiar with but I can say my favorites are the new ones by

Mastodon
The Gathering
Katatonia
Brutal Truth
Devin Townsend
Pestilence

I'll probably be really able to answer the question sometime in 2010 haha.

I compare to a trip through an indian rain forest on acid. And yes the new drummer does not dissapoint.

I admit I do feel a slight sense of pride that this bible belt state has produced some good music lately.

I bought more new music this year than in ages. Mainly because vinyl is back and better quality than ever. Two albums stood out above all others:

Kreator - Hordes of Chaos
Came out like, what, third week of January and I knew it would remain my favorite album of the year.

Vreid - Milorg
Another great album that I've been playing over and over...
