Twilight

Post by Metalfreak » Thu December 31st, 2009, 4:06 pm

Note: This is NOT about the movie! Fuck that gay emo shit.

anyways, There was a black metal band by this name from 05-08 and they're pretty damn good. Was just wondering if any of you guys have heard of them. This band is actually a supergroup of dudes from alot of American black metal bands like xasthur and Nachtmystium.

You can look 'em up on YouTube. Doin' this on my fancy shmancy iPod so I can't exactly copy and paste links right now lol
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

Surprised someone else knows this band. Very kickass band IMO, I love 'em. Has many members of great USBM bands. Here is their myspace:

I wrote this up when it came out in '05 but can't remember for what/whom... It's good from what I remember and was pretty much in Xasthur's/Leviathan's creative heyday, which has now grown predictable, stale, etc.

Everyone - incl yrs truly - thought this was the big one. The salvo across the bow of Scandinavian BM. This meant the American's couldn't only hang; they were improving upon a genre that Old Europe had owned for so long... Blah blah blah.

Don't listen to this or anything from its members these days except for Krieg. His stuff should be sought out.

In retrospect, it's funny as hell - especially considering what "Twilight" brings to mind these days.

Yeah, Twilight is awesome. Lot of different styles on that album, as you'd expect. When it came out on Southern Lord, I actually bought my copy at Tower.

That is one ugly band.

(I see Blake from Nachtmystium on the right, and I think the portly fellow is the Krieg dude, but who the hell is Dirty Sanchez there in the front??)

That was the proposed second incarnation that featured my hero, Aaron Turner (ISIS) on skinflute.

I think the guy in the front works at El Asswrecka.

Southern Lord probably delivers to caves.

It was an ok album...not very cohesive. You could tell which songs were done by Wrest, by Malefic, by Imperial, etc. It sounded like a collection of solo songs rather than a band.

@Metalfreak -- I learned a long time ago that, on this forum, bands are new to me only.

@theRothstanator -- Thanks! I always was wondering what this place was called.

That was one of my favorite albums of 2007(?). It really was one of the bands/artists that made me able to take USBM seriously. I wish that they'd kept it going, but, at the same time, it's very hard to imagine that so many big personalities could co-exist in a band setting for very long. Hell, when I first read that all those dudes had a "band" I was pretty surprised that any of them would comprise his vision for the sake of collaboration. That song Extract Agony, Take Life is perfect BM to me. Dark, creepy and yet still catchy.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm spinning that fucker right now.
