My favorite is Slow Riot. They're a good band, but definitely overhyped in post-rock circles. Mogwai, Mono, and Sigur Ros are all better.Knucklehead wrote:I have Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, Yanqui U.X.O. and Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada. To be honest, I haven't listened to any of them more than a few times. It looks like they are now inactive, so there discography isn't really all that deep.Jordan wrote:One of my friends recommended this band but I've never heard them though. I prefer early Mogwai (*clears throat*), Mono, or Sigur Ros.

It's been bothering me seeing it as someone's avatar in the Ultimate Metal Forum for months.
Anyways:
Among the Missing - Cease to Exist. Since this was so hard to find on the intewebs to download, I just bought it for Christmas.
If you like a hybrid of punk/sludge/hardcore, check this band out. It's weird but amazing.

Ha! Just now reading these...no raise. Not even a goose. And I did spend about 10 days deep in MS burning up some comp time before the end of the year. No place like home, but I'm glad to be back.Nyarlathotep wrote:Tell your boss he will be visited by three ghosts tonight. If all works out well you will get a raise tomorrow, or maybe a Christmas goose. I assume that means you will be driving to Mississippi tonight. If so, be careful out there.MS_39455 wrote:

Lift Your Skinny Fists is, I think, one of their first releases. The second disc is especially fairly awesome, the tune that starts with the old man talking about sleeping on the beach at Coney Island. Huge, dramatic, orchestral stuff.Brian wrote:My favorite is Slow Riot. They're a good band, but definitely overhyped in post-rock circles. Slut rag, speaking of this will destroy you:
Texas instrumental band This Will Destroy You will enter the studio next month to record a new full-length titled "Tunnel Blanket." The album will be engineered and produced by John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky) and should be available in mid-2010.
Meanwhile, the group has announced the addition of drummer Alex Bhore (The New Frontiers) to their line-up.
Also, US tour, but no dates yet.

Nokturnal Mortum - The Voice of Steel
I Hear Sirens - Beyond the Sea, Beneath the Sky (boooring and disappointing)
Amber Daybreak - Sentinels
Agalloch - The Mantle (when it snowed)
Trespassers William - The Natural Order of Things
Cynic - Traced in Air
Boy in Static - Newborn
And now I'm listening to the new Ihsahn...never really liked much of his solo work before but I'm giving this a shot.
