BATTLEMASTER are Richmond's finest answer to the question "why aren't there more US death metal bands focusing on triumphant medieval conquest?" The answer is clear: because you gotta go big or go home... and these dudes go MEGA. It's all wailing guitars, unholy amounts of double-bass and raging, scathing vocals that would make Poseidon himself proud, throwing his trident towards Valhalla! You (hopefully) get the point though, and this band fucking rips. Plus the singer is the same dude from Cannabis Corpse and their drummer is Alex Tomlin!

Fuck yes, I love Battlemaster. Several guys in Virginia got me into them. You know I will be there just to fucking see them. It is the same day as the Behemoth show, but I will probably leave right before Behemoth gets on. I have seen Behemoth enough so I don't mind missing them. I mainly want to see Shining and Septic Flesh again.

Battlemaster is epic, mead swilling, D&D death metal sorcery. Locusta is mind usurping technical death/thrash. Razormaze is pure 80's thrash worship. Oiltanker is raw crusty d-beat gnarlyness. Spewtilator is black ice grind. Living Decay is old school gore oozing death metal.

This show was the shit. Definitely the highlight of spending 3 days in Atlanta. I'm really glad I left the Behemoth show early to come out. Battlemaster's set was great, Razormaze really impressed me, Oiltanker had some pretty good tunes, I'm not sure who was Locusta but the one band with the brutal death metal singer was okay.

i had a good time. not having heard ANY of these bands, i was surprised by a few. living decay is pretty good but they could be so much better with better equipment (obviously). oiltanker was good. spewtilater surprised me. funny guys, good tunes. razormaze were good but the vocals were atrocious. locusta were pretty impressive (to me, at least). and only saw two of battlemaster songs but goddamn...i want some of their tunes a.s.a.p.

and tommy is a fucking riot. he barrels through the crowd just as battlemaster went on. i wanted to be [i]THAT[/i] drunk.
