Carcass, 9/12/08. Still goes down as my favorite experience ever - mainly because that was my very first concert at The Masquerade, and the 3rd i've been to in the state.

Dude. I can't even tell you. I bought To Mega Therion on vinyl back in early '86, probably. Maybe even in '85, just after it was released. Anyway, I was listening to a whole lot of Bay Area Thrash at the time and I couldn't quite get my head around it. I would sit for hours, spread over several months, in my parents' den, listening to the album and staring at those wierd-ass Giger paintings.

Because I lived in a small town and there was no internet, I never got word that they played in Detroit. You know, there were maybe 20 guys in my high school of 1,200 that listened to that kind of stuff and word just didn't travel like it does now. Anyway, the place that they played is the size of Hell. Slayer played there as well, a show that I also missed. I later saw Sacred Reich there and Wrathchild America. But Celtic Frost at Blondie's is one of the shows that I will always regret missing. Did I mention that it was on my birthday?

Solidarity, my friend.

I missed the guy air-drumming and didn't hear the kid in the audience. That totally explains why Martin started yelling that there is no God.

A magic night.

The last show I saw at Ballroom was Jane's Addiction in '97. Do they still have shows there?
don't think so. I was too young when all the cool shows went there...heard that place was pretty awesome.

@knucklehead- fucking sucks you missed that on your birthday of all days!

That must have been before they turned into assholes. "If anyone else crowd surfs, we're leaving!" Christ.

I saw 'em back in '93 or '94 and Ian was spouting that bullshit then. Or maybe it was stagediving. Or slamming. I can't remember.

Hmmm? Bob, you didn't say "Dark Overlord" did you bro?! Well, to all that didn't know, or care to know? Rob Meeks guitarist for The Mighty Dark Overlord has ANOTHER very cool Metal band he plays in called The Velveeta Brothers!!! I just happen to be their Lead Singer/ Front man & somewhat part time comedian!!! :D

...But as far as Great & Best concerts go, man OMFG that's a pretty big freakin' list, considering just how many great shows I've seen all these years, pretty much since I was about 17! I'd have to make The Queen & Billy Squire show @ The Omni in 1982, probably one of the BEST shows I ever saw!!! Along w/ the Pink Floyd-Division Bell show @ Grant Field in 1994! Also that same PF show, Floyd played the whole entire album of "Dark Side Of The Moon" in it's entirety along w/ more killer Floyd classics!!! That also was a VERY BADASS show too!!! The David Bowie 1988-Glass Spider tour was very, very good as well!!! The very first time I saw Metallica in 1989 w/ Queensryche opening @ The Omni was pretty killer!!! When Savatage in 1988 played for nearly 3 hours @ The Metroplex was pretty awesome!!!
Seeing Dio @ the omni in 1985 w/ Rough Cutt opening for his Sacred Heart tour, where he killed this giant Dragon w/ a Lazer sword was Killer!!! :D
All the times I saw Iron Maiden were great! 1st-@ The Omni in 1985 for The Live After Death tour w/ Twisted Sister opening! Maiden were incredible!!!
2nd-when they played in 1987 @ the half house Omni w/ Yngwie Malmsteen opening for the Somewhere In Time tour, when bruce killed Eddie w/ a giant laser gun was truly badass!!!
That's just a few of my favorites! But as many as I've been to, I do have a whole lot more!!!

'09 was one of the best years for shows, even though they were spread out and few and far between.
