This.BlazeTSU wrote:yeah, Jerry Cantrell is Alice In Chains.......he was the man behind almost all of the tunes and also the mastermind behind all the haunting vocal harmonies. He basically wrote all of the music, almost all of the lyrics and almost all of the melodies. With that being said, Layne was a huge part of their success.
Facelift and Dirt are both genius albums[/i]
The new album is good too. Seriously, if I didn't know Layne was dead I wouldn't know it wasn't him doing (half) the vocals.
I didn't get into all of their stuff as radio had a tendency to make me not want to listen to the bands that they played ad-nauseum, but Dirt is an amazing album. It's kinda like a William S. Burroughs book (except...good). I've never done heroin, but because of that album I feel like I never needed to. Dirt was as close as I ever needed or wanted to get to actually doing smack.
I won't be at the show though. Expensive tickets = no go for the Strange My drummer will be there though. He's a total AIC nut.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!
