All the same, I would have liked to have seen Mayhem, once. I haven't listened to much of their last album and have avoided GDOW, because of that awful song with the rap on it. I was never able to see them in the past and was hoping I'd get the chance. I have a feeling they are probably done.

That cracked me up. I hadn't really listened to them before Scion, and that was exactly what I was thinking the whole time I was watching their set. Slint meets Darkthrone. Or something.

Let's hope they're done. Attila may as well be Marilyn Manson at this point. Imagine if Araya was travelling around the world with two guys from Early Man on guitar, Lombardo, and calling it Slayer...

Krallice, Orthrelm, blah blah blah. Trig Metal. Let's get together and do some stat, bro. How big's yr parabola?

that cracked me up!

ps - for those who haven't seen Mayhem, well that sucks cause they do put on a good show. But apparently they're huge assholes and that's why all the bands they toured with the last time they came through the US eventually dropped off or some shit.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

I understood that to be due to financial complications over Marduk not being able to be on that tour (one less band, lower guarantee, not enough money to pay all the bands). There are plenty of stories, but from a personal account, Atilla at least appears to be a pretty laid back person...polite even. The Withered dudes and a couple of the guys that I've spoken to from Cephalic Carnage all agreed that even Necrobutcher was pretty low key until he'd get a few bottles of champagne in his gut (that's no exageration). I agree that they were killer at MDF last year. Opinions vary so widely with this band. I'd love to see them again some time though.

Mayhem hasn't released a good record since DMDS.

Wolf's Lair Abyss is pretty good I think. I have never got how big Mayhem have gotten with only 4 full length and a few EP's. I guess it's the history and the time period more then anything else. I don't ever remember bands being influenced by them.
