yeah i've been getting into some trance and electronica as of late. theres some really solid stuff out there but sometimes i feel its like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Same.

I like it but only have like 3 trance albums in my iTunes. I don't know who's good or what mixes are good and some of the stuff is hard to find (downloads).

Agree with you Tommy and Gene and Pigface fucking rules! There is so much but early seventies rock like Zappa, Hawkwind, Pink Floyd and King Crimson. Pretty much most electronic stuff like Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb and Velvet Acid Christ. DOn't know much trance but stuff like Paul Oakenfield I like. A lot of female vocalists such as Alicia Keys, Pink, Joni Mitchell, Ricki Lee Jones, Fiona Apple and Sheryl Crow to name a few. Nothing like a chick playing a piano or guitar and crooning sexy to ya! Current music like Muse, Maroon 5, Green Day, 3 Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin. Also like some jazz and classical like Wagner. That should do for now and I don't want to freak out to many of you but it's too late now.......................

Telefon Tel Aviv rules.

Check out A Lily...side project of Yndi Halda (post-rock). It's like Telefon but more ambient.

i wanted to ask you how you like that mazzy star cd you listed a while back in the other topic. is it any good? i have only heard that one famous song they have that i won't name out loud.

this would be a good addition to this particular topic anyway.

There are at least three artists with name Lily.

1) Lily was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and migrated to the United States at the age of 14. She has many musical influences, both from her native Colombia and the US; Colombian folkloric sound, romantic ballads and boleros, R&B, old school Mambo etc.

2) German prog rock band.
Lily were Manfred Schlagmüller on drums and percussion, Wilfried Kirchmeier on bass and vocals, Hans-Werner Steinberg (tenor and soprano saxes), and both Manfred-Josef Schmid and Klaus Lehmann on guitars.

As for Mazzy Star, I thought it sounded pretty good but I was in a car reading a book so I wasn't really paying too much attention.

I listen to a lot of mid 90's skate punk like: Pennywise, Strung Out, Lag Wagon, Good Riddance, NOFX and Propaghandi.

Also classic / southern rock like: The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Who and The Doors.

Then random stuff: David Allen Coe (I remeber once when Tommy and Gene were over and we listened to DAC), Johnny Cash, Radiohead, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and I even super love Bat for Lashes.

I love mid-era Stones, especially Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers.
Mogwai
Gillian Welch
And then a lot of the stuff from the '90's: early Mudhoney, early Melvins, The Jesus Lizard, etc.

EDIT: I forgot Refused and Unsane. Refused really only had one good album, but Unsane has reliably released great albums.

Ever heard Heather Nova? She's fits nicely into that category.

That was her first -- and really only -- big single, from some time in the mid-Nineties. Her albums are kind of hit and miss, but when they hit, they hit.

I've been listening to the Jesus Lizard pretty non-stop since that show here last November.

Also, Misfits (w/danzig), Ramones, Tom Waits, Big Black, Nirvana, RL Burnside, The Stooges "Fun House" album, Wesley Willis, Scratch Acid, Hound Dog Taylor, John Lee Hooker, old Nofx, The Doors, MC5, Velvet Underground, Roy Orbison, The Black Keys first album, old White Stripes, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Hendrix...

The Rolling Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, The Doors, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, GnR, T.I., Yelle, Agent Orange, Suicide Commando, Johnny Cash, ZZ Top, The Offspring, Creadance Clearwater Revival, The Allman Brothers, AC/DC

...mostly rock. I'm not a huge fan of rap at all (there are some great rap artists though) and I do like some country songs (just not familiar enough to name groups) and I can't stand most electronica, goth, indie, pop (80s pop and anything that has ever been played on star 94 lol), r&b, gospel, and even some punk. Just cause I can't stand most of it doesn't mean I hate it all, there are some bands I do like from these (except indie, r&b and gospel...can't stand any of those at all!) I also love oldies...I only know songs though, not artists.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???
