Yattering - Genocide - This thing sat on my shelf for I don't know how long. Pulled it out tonight, listened to it twice in rapid succession, and I'm now feeling like it's one of the best brutal death albums ever made. If you've wanted some more distinctive songwriting from your bdm, for god's sake check out this album. Not only is every song great, every one has some weird curveball to throw at you.

Inspell - Arcadian Tales: The Egregore - Completely unknown symphonic black metal from Bulgaria. And completely awesome. Somewhere between Limbonic Art and Dimmu Borgir with loads of thrashy riffs to keep things peppy.

Spiculum Iratus - Summa Anti-Theologica - Roaring black metal from CA.

I'm always a little dissapointed more people don't know this band even though they're really not on the radar these days. Murder's Concept was a good one too and III has to be one of the more bizzare forays of stoned death metal dudes into electronica. Really strange.

I've got to get Trypikon. Absu's self titled rules. Also, I fucking love A Matter of Life and Death. It's pretty mellow but Dickinson sounds so fucking amazing. Great record.

Does your copy of Murder's Concept have a weird skip at the beginning of one of the first few tracks? After returning it once to FYE (or Blockbuster Music, as it was known then), I found the exact same skip in the exact same place on the second copy. The disc wasn't scratched, and it wasn't a major skip -- right at the beginning of the track it just automatically jumped ahead a few seconds, no matter which CD player I tried. Anyway, to make a long story short (too late!), I just re-ordered Murder's Concept, since I ended up returning that second copy for something completely different, and I'm wondering if it was a manufacturing defect that was present in every single copy.

edit: I just read that Murder's Concept was reissued by Relapse the same year it had been released by Season of Mist. I'm pretty sure both of my copies were from Relapse.

And for further trivia, supposedly Human's Pain has an original version with a mix that sounds much better than the one that came out on SoM.

Mine's the Season of Mist version that I got from The End. It plays flawlessly. I've been told that the Relapse reissue has an incorrect tracklisting as well. I don't have Human's Pain, but I'll definitely be looking for the original relase if I happen to come accross a copy.
