thanks to Blaze for supporting WREK on a non-Wrekage day

Post by Greg » Mon April 18th, 2005, 2:54 pm

Just wanted to thank Blaze for randomly finding me during my weekday shift on Mondays 2-4 at WREK, hope you liked what metal we have in the weekly rock rotation to play that you heard. It was cool to have a Wrekage listener call up out of the blue and say they were listening to WREK in the daytime on a monday (even if they did tune in by accident, haha).

All of us student hosts have to do a regular weekday shift in order to host a specialty show on WREK, so we pay our dues during the week so to speak. Daniel's shift is Tuesday I think, and Holly's is on Thursdays, so if you want a small taste of Wrekage during the week tune in and see what we have to do for our day jobs in order to get the chance to do Wrekage.

It's weird but most of the time when I do tune in to daytime WREK I hear a WREKage host. Mike was playing some pretty weird shit last week (or two). Dan plays a lot of Pink Floyd and otherwise depressing music.

I used to listen during my day travels back before I had one of them newfangled CD players in my car.

I remember i heard a few cool things... Melt-Banana, The Red Chord, and Wadge...well, those are the only ones that come to mind right now.

I think we have every day of the week covered except for friday.

Of course, we more than make up for missing friday daytime with friday nighttime.

haha yeah i'm on Wednesday 5-7. Never realized we were all on different days.
And yes weird shit tends to get played. Mainly because I randomly choose off of the rotation shelf. I'm usually too lazy to go in the vault and play that many free cuts. But if something sucks I won't ever play it again.

Wrekage hosts playing non-metal? I think I'm going to be sick...no wait, the sickness is just a laugh comin' on. Sounds like the station needs to hire some new people.

BoB did you have to do that shit when you spun the vinyl?

I'm now on Mondays from 2pm-4pm. This past Monday, I played Slayer, Candlemass, Venom, and Anthrax, and no one at the station seemed to notice. Sweeeet.......

Haha, holy shit.
Were those station albums or ours?

$10 says the second I do this, Markus is on my ass.

In any event, my shift is Wednesday 1:30-3:30 this semester.

They're our vinyl. A lot of our old vinyl though, was in regular rotation at one time. Besides, they said play more vinyl this summer...no problem. ;)
