Post by necroodin » Mon May 10th, 2010, 10:40 pm

Just curious to see who, if anyone out there keeps up with world soccer at all, and who is psyched the World Cup is but one month away?

I thought it was funny how the head of South Africa's security forces was rooting against the USA because he doesn't want Obama to come. (For security-headache reasons.)

Engerlund!

I follow West Ham United passionately, EPL closely and the other English leagues loosely. I'm a patriotic American, but my heart is with English football.

According to my FIFA iPhone app, World Cup to kick-off is in 30 days, 23 hours and 3 minutes.

Can't freaking wait.

Awesome man, I too am a patriotic American but the EPL is where its at. SPL was good too this year. I'm screwed there, my family is descended from Inverness and their team(Caley Thistle) just got promoted up to the SPL... and I like Celtic, so I'll have to root for them both I think. EPL wise, I have to say I'm an Arsenal man . Oh yes, and fuck Wigan up the ass.

I love soccer. In fact my cat is named Mia after Mia Hamm. Ha. And oddly enough, only minutes ago I was talking to a friend on AIM about Atletico Madrid making the Europa League.

I recently switched from DirecTV to AT&T U-Verse, and managed to lose Fox Soccer in the process, but I haven't bothered to upgrade now that soccer is picking up steam here in the U.S. Granted I get to see 1/10th of the number of EPL (scuse me, BPL) matches I used to see, but that's somewhat balanced out by the MLS and occasional La Liga games on ESPN2.

Never really had a favorite team, but my favorite league is definitely the English. Argentinian matches were always a joy, too, but they were a Fox Soccer Channel thing, so ... eh.

Oh, and for the MLS fans, Landon Donovan is scheduled to be on Jimmy Kimmel tonight, 12:05 on ABC. No idea why.

edit: Oh, and to answer the original question, yes, I am fucking excited for the World Cup. If the neo-nazis fuck it up I will be piiiiiiissed.

Hell yeah man.. footytorrents.co.uk is all you ever need...I'm more worried about Al Qaeda carrying through on their threat to blow it up than I am some well-meaning but anachronistic AWB boys messing about. I'm just pissed Chelsea won the EPL title again

I'll check footytorrents. Sometimes I use footyfree.com but I find myself spending more time looking for a better stream than actually watching a game.

alot of xvid stream captures.. xvid matches.. but what i love are the 5-8 gig rips of top matches...pre game build up, halftime talk, post game wrap up, all in 720p. Makes it hard to watch it any other way

July 28 at the Georgia Dome

Atlanta International Soccer Challenge

Club America v Manchester SCUM United

I've already bought my tickets. Ticketbastard has tix for $115 plua fees or $25 for Early Bird nosebleed tickets.

There is no doubt that SCUM play some of the most beautiful football in the world, but I cannotfuckingwait to heckle Wanker Rooney in person.

I saw Club America play last summer and beat the pants off AC Milan. Fun as shit, though the atmosphere at the Mexico v Venezuala game was just off the chain. Mexicans know how to get down.

Growing up in Europe, i was raised kicking a soccer ball around. Much like every other kid there. I was a captain of my team in Berlin, Germany for a while. We went to Prague and actually beat Sparta Prague 4:2. And then i seriously got into metal. And pot. Had i continued playing i might have made something out of myself. Oh well, metal was worth it. Although i do miss playing soccer, but when i came here in '98 there was virtually no soccer here. Or Red Bull and Nutella. Times change i guess.

There are several serious venues for amateur teams here in ATL. If you need info hit me up.

My intel was wrong. It's Man City, not Man U coming to play here. Bummer, but I'll still enjoy heckling that sheep shagged, Bellamy.

I like Chelsea a good bit, but I was really pulling for Pompey to do the business in the FA Cup today. Oh well...

Ahhh hell yeah, I didn't know tickets had gone on sale for the Man City game. Would like to go to that man, will have to check it out.. and definitely would love to experience some Latino football madness. The passion and energy put into it is awesome. I have this great game between Palmeras and Santos from earlier this year that is just crazy good.

Theres always the Atlanta Beat lol
