Chris Barnes or Corpsegrinder?
I've heard a few debates over who is the true voice of Cannibal Corpse lately. This is a tough question for me but, the time to choose is motherfucking now. It starts way back in 1994 when I was 11 and saw Hammer Smashed Face during Ace Ventura, it scared the shit out of me and gave me goosebumps. When Corpsegrinder came in I was super reluctant to get behind him, but he has become one of my favorite vocalists. I mean come on, Vile is fucking amazing. The way I see it Barnes made them what they are and had a huge impact on the gore lyric genre, but he's a fucking douche and everything after Haunted by Six Feet Under sucked. On the other hand my least favorite CC records are Corpsegrinder records. My vote goes to Corpsegrinder though, he has been owning it for the last few years. Everytime CC comes through they are completely crushing. Not to mention the last two records are some of the best.

This one is hard for me because I hate Six Feet Under, but I love early Cannibal Corpse. There is more early Cannibal Corpse that I prefer even though their newer CDs are good too. Corpsegrinder has good stage and he looks like he wants to fuck someone up yet Chris Barnes sounds more like some mental nut who actually thinks this shit up. It is pretty half and half for me but I guess I will go with Chris Barnes since it is a poll on who is the true face of Cannibal Corpse instead of who sucks and who doesn't.
Looking only at Cannibal Corpse... Chris Barnes is the ruler and master.
Eaten Back to Life, Butchered at Birth, and Tomb of the Mutilated crush everything else they've done combined. Actually, they crush almost everything else anyone's done combined.

Corpsegrinder, definitely.
On an unrelated note, the popularity of SFU will always be a mystery to me. Maybe it's because their fans aren't literate, but I've never seen a single positive thing written about that band. Is it just that SFU is marketed to death? Is it like the Spice Girls -- a band that becomes omnipresent but that no one admits to listening to?

i've never seen anything remotely positive written about them either. in my opinion, a plethora of horrid, hideous covers haven't helped them in any way.DeathfareDevil wrote:Corpsegrinder, definitely.

i voted for corpsegrinder for many reasons, not the least of which is the amount of fear/respect i have for the size of his neck.

Maybe it is just coincidence but everytime I have met a SFU fan they turned out to be a moron or someone I couldn't stand being around.DeathfareDevil wrote:Corpsegrinder, definitely.

Most certainly, those songs are great also. Vile is such a classic record.Generubin wrote:Perverse Suffering and Disfigured all the way.Azrael wrote:Devoured by Vermin is such a brutal song, I could listen to it a million times.Asrynth wrote:Personally I think the first scream on 'Devoured By Vermin' is one of the greatest death metal screams of all time, my vote goes to corpsegrinder his vocal attack and stage presence are unrivaled.
Well, the first couple CC albums are priceless and I like SFU also. I have to go with George because he is a bit more varied in his vocal approach. Barnes is a bit samey for me although I still like him and George is a scary big ass mofo! I guess windmilling for a career has it;s pluses!
p.s. I am a bit loaded so forgive the errroes....................\m/
