well, he did sing in Black Sabbath at one point and Black Sabbath is pretty much common knowledge for the most part I guess.
even some folks at my job know who he is or they have at least heard of him.

Oh, yeah. But most folks associate Ozzy w/ Sabbath and don't realize Dio helmed the band for their most accomplished records.

I have to agree with Voegtlin, here. I discovered Sabbath during the half hour that Ian Gillen was in the band. They already had a lengthy discography, with Dio, obviously, being the most recent singer. But if you say Sabbath, I still think Ozzy.

Born Again is a classic too IMO. From the WHOA FUKK cover art to the skin-peeling Iommi solo on "Trashed."

My favorite track was definitely "Zero the Hero." I sat in the parents' basement and listened to that one for hours on end. I'm guessing I haven't heard the entire album, though, since Reagan was President.
I should probably remedy that.

Joined. Those people are fucking psychotic, if that even needs to be stated. TRG (FM 100.5) has had Shirley Phelps on a couple of times and she is a real piece of work. Their church should be burnt down with all the members locked inside.

Yea, I typically view arson as flat out disrespect and narrowmindedness, but those people are a hate group, not a church.
But on the other hand, let's not give these people any more reason to hate metalheads. "Ronnie hates prejudice and violence! We need to turn the other cheek on these people that only know how to hate someone they didn't know. We only know how to love someone we know!" - Wendy Dio
So as screwed up as this is, I'll say respect their freedom of speech and hope they don't get violent. While imagining them all burning.

Part of Westboro's inane list of grievances is Dio's "pornography star niece Gen Padova." Can someone a) more familiar with porn, and b) more sober than I, confirm that she is of no relation to Dio? Someone somewhere said his last name is actually Padavona.
Idiots.

People like that hating metal makes me love being a social outcast all the more. Why would anyone ever want to win over a bunch of superstitious, small minded bigots?

Respecting what his widow wishes is the only right thing to do.

These are the same fools who always show up to soldier's funerals with their ridiculous God Hates Fags signs. I believe in freedom of speech in all circumstances. I also believe in my right to risk catching a case if those assholes showed up at my people's funeral.

Every trend, social class, or race has something that is of "lesser worth".
Those are the people that don't speak for any of us, yet some how people still give them the attention they don't deserve. Children and stupid people love to have attention even if it is bad attention.

The Westboro Baptist people perpetuate their "mission" by suing people who lose their shit at the audacity of their "demonstrations."
Long story short, they use personal injury lawsuits to fund their church. The protests basically boil down to a scheme to get a distraught family member or two to run up to somebody and give them a well-deserved punch in the face so the WBC can turn around and collect once the lawyers have taken their slice.
Most of the Phelps family are lawyers, including Fred (though, he was disbarred).

What a bunch of assholes. I agree, their "church" does need to be burned down with all their members inside.
It's really sad that groups like this can exist and be protected through 'freedom of speech' ...I really do not think that's what our forefathers had in mind. A few months back, they protested at a marine's funeral and the dead marine's father sued, won, and then it got overturned. I'm not sure what happened after that. These assholes have NO right to protest at any damn funeral. Let the living mourn their dead loved ones in peace instead of harrasing them and causing more grief.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???
