I totally agree with you actually. I have listened to their black metal and it was okay for black metal. Their electronic, on the other hand, is alot more powerful. I would totally be down for this if I were in town.

I don't dislike their electronic/avant garde stuff...I just haven't checked out most of it honestly.

I would only go if they play the Nattens Madrigal shit. I am not interested in seeing some gay electronic stuff.

I would definitely be interested. Whether I would go or not is a different story. I didn't pay attention to them after the first 3 full lengths.

Where should I start with Ulver?

sounds like someone ridiculously butthurt that Ulver isn't "metal" anymore; maybe one paragraph of that whole whiny rant actually deals with the music itself and only as it relates to the band's ideology, much like the whole "review"

Blood Inside and Perdition City are their best albums imo

ill go ahead and say i have no experience with this band's metal output but i have heard blood inside and shadow's of the sun. i LOVED shadows of the sun but just couldn't get into blood inside. maybe i need to try again but i just remember very few good parts (to my ears, anyway).

Blood Inside actually did take me a while to get into but I love it now along with the rest of Ulver's material. William Blake was kind of an iffy transition that sorta worked and sorta didn't but I still like it. Dig Bergtatt and Kveldssanger just as much too as well as Nattens despite how it's just black metal Iron Maiden worship.

yeah, i remember checking out ulver's older stuff thinking i'd rather listen to some satyricon or something (black metal elitists are all collectively sighing at what i just said probably).

Yeah -- that Stewvee does get butthurt about his metal. I'm pretty sure that he wears corpsepaint around the house, you know, while taking out the trash and stuff.

On another note, I read the MC5 review -- I grew up just 20 minutes from Saginaw. I saw Megadeth, Dio, Savatage and RRRROUDNESS! at that very same venue. Of course, I was still in utero on New Year's Day, 1970.

Haha nothing wrong with Satyricon. Whether or not they are "black metal" now is irrelevant to the fact that they make catchy, hard-rocking music and do it well. I actually find DMT to be their worst.

i absolutely fucking love rebel extravaganza and volcano. also i recently got nemesis divina and i like it a lot as well. i had heard it years ago when i first started getting into more extreme metal but it didn't click until lately.
