Got there at 8:15 or so and Blood Red Throne was already playing. People seemed to like them okay.

Enslaved played, at least, Isa, Path to Vanir, Fusion of Sense and Earth, Ethica Odini and The Beacon. (I think.) I am not all that familiar with their catalog.

I left about four songs into Dimmu Borgir. Not my thing. They are probably still playing and I am at home, eating Burger King. I win.

I finally met Badcarburetor, which was nice. And Strange. But I think I met him before.

.... mmm. French fries.

Nice to meet you, too, dude. I've already made it home and polished off toaster waffles, fried black forest ham and eggs. Best part of the night after meeting you, haning out with the other usual suspects and FUCKING ENSLAVED! I can't believe how early Blood Red Throne played and that I wasted that part of the night watching my husband eat Chipotle.

I was next to one of the biggest Dimmu fans in the world. The guy to my left was a virtual one-man air-band: he ran through guitar, vocals, bass, drums, and I might have seen some keys, stopping randomly to head bang. He anticipated each song with "oh shit oh shit oh shit" and then when it finally started "FUCK YES!" Eventually he bolted into the weak pit and I didn't see him again. Thinking back now, I'm pretty sure it was Knucklehead.

The guy to my right in front of Strange spent his time thrashing around and reminding Dimmu to play only "OLD SHIT. OLD SHIT. OLD SHIT." And the guy behind me kept up a running stream of hilarious banter, such as requesting "Burn in Hell" and suggesting during one of Shagrath's dramatic pauses that he "FINISH THIS SONG RIGHT NOW." I love audience participation.

It was a good show, but I miss Vortex.

I was trying to keep that our little secret. There goes my street cred.

In the weirdest-thing-last-night-category: there was a young guy, short blond hair and thin, who was almightily fucked up. He literally weaved his way through the crowd and nearly ran into me. Twice. As I was leaving, I saw him just outside the front door and one of the bouncers was bellowing at him about he better sit down. The guy was being a little belligerant, in that too fucked up way.

Here comes the weird part: I walked out to my car and then drove back past the Masquerade. As I passed, I saw him standing outside, in front of the marquis, feet together, head lolled to the side and arms extended. All to the soft sounds of Teitanblood.

Haha it took me a second to realize that by "Strange" you meant Alan, and not meeting Badcarb.

If this show was on a weekend I probably would have gone to check out Enslaved and Blood Red Throne, but I'm not a big fan of any of the bands that played. I just went to the gym after work and went home to watch the 3-part Southpark Cthulu/superhero thing. I'm very comfortable with my decision.

Fuck I wish I would have known they started the show two hours early. I missed everyone but Dimmu who I had already seen twice. I missed Blood Red Throne and Enslaved. So pissed but they opened with Spellbound by the Devil and closed with Mourning palace so that was cool.

LOL I am the adjective. Koo-Koo-Ka-Choo

I got there in time to catch the last few songs of Enslaved's set. I wish I'd cut band practice a little shorter. haha

I enjoyed Dimmu's set overall. I didn't really dig the new material. In terms of face melting it was more on scale with a toaster oven than a blast furnace. And I'm sorry, but the sampled vocals with Shagrath talk-singing over it was lame as shit. On the plus side, they saved those songs (Progenies and the Serpentine Offering) for the very end of the show. But since I really like those songs and Vortex's vox so, yeah, major lameness there. I like a lot of what they played enough that it was worth what I paid, but I kinda wish I would have remembered that Overkill was on Monday because I most likely would have gone to that instead.

Cool hangin' with you fine ladies and gents as always though. And cool meeting Knucklehead. If we've met before I apologize for not remembering. I um... I drink a lot.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

I'm a cheap date, PBR tall boys and Beam shots kinda girls. Yesterday was a loooong day. What can I say?

I hate Dimmu and all the more for last night. The distressed white outfits, the triggers, the vocal samples, the overloud keyboards and the totally buried guitars. All the same, that kind of comedy is hard to buy so I loved making fun of the few songs I stayed for before the promise of toaster waffles grew too strong.

The absolute best thing they could have done was play Burn in Hell. That woulda been rad. But, I wouldn't have been there, having bought my No Presents for Christmas 12" and headed for the door and midnight breakfast.

So stoked for Monday. Saw the always rad Dandy Warhols tonight, but they played a set half as long as usual. Lame-o. I wish I could have seen them and Enslaved together. That woulda been a killer double set. Makes me wish I still did psychedelics...

I got there probably halfway through Enslaved's set...wish I had gotten there earlier dammit! I didn't know it was gonna be such an early show.

I LOVE Dimmu Borgir. Screw all you haters. Well, I will say I don't like the newest stuff...it's gay but there other stuff isn't.

I ran into Strange & Diana and I think that's it (on this forum anyways). I also ran into an exboyfriend from when I was 16. There never was any bad blood there...he was just too old for me at the time so it didn't last long...he was 26. It was cool catching up with him though, not that any of you care lol.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

I should have knocked your friend down and taken her camera. That junk was nice.

How did you do on your test?
