My Niece Wants a Guitar.

Post by Diana » Sat November 20th, 2010, 10:36 am

And she's probably going to play Billy Ray Cyrus on it, but I can only do so much.

Here's the deal: I think she's 10? So it needs to be one of these 3/4 ones probably. I want real strings, not nylon, and it would be nice if it had one of those starter packs with a case, strap and tuner. And it has to be blue, black or pink -- in that order.

I don't want it to cost a fortune because they live like feral animals, so I'm thinking around $50? Is that reasonable? I don't know the first thing about guitars. I'm finding stuff that seems to fit the bill on Amazon, like this: Lauren 30" Steel String and this: 38" by Crescent, but I don't know anything about these brands and the reviews are about equal.

Any advice will be most appreciated. Thanks.

go for a Stagg 3/4 size guitar. I worked at Ponier music in Marietta for a year and those were definetly an easy sale cause they were acually real guitars. But they go for about 80 bucks for the guitar......

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I've been getting some outside counsel on this and I think I'm going to go with that Crescent. IF she likes it, and sticks with it, and IF she doesn't break it, I'll upgrade her later on.
