this show was awesome! I got there in time to see all of Black Anvil....so thankfully I missed the first band lol

I bought one of their CDs and the new Goatwhore CD. I would have bought some Watain CDs but ran out of cash.

Yeah, the smell was pretty horrible

Mark some how got rotten meat all over his fingers hahahaha!

just now my boyfriend told me I stunk...I must have gotten used to it because by the time I got home, I didn't smell anything. He went to snuggle with me after I fell asleep and immediately backed off HAHAHAHA! Yeah, I didn't feel like taking a shower either.

Well, those clothes are in the laundry now anyways.

Dude in the crowd- "No!"

Hahahaha!

hahaha, fuck i wish i had caught that band. ive seen these guys a couple times before and the smell was never nearly as bad as this time.. but i guess more stage antics can distract from the not as interesting songs in the set from lawless gayness.

Got there right as Black Anvil was going on and DAMN they KILLED it. Love the hardcore/black metal sound. Wanted to get a shirt but didn't have any cash.

Goatwhore kind of sucked... I mean they played ok I just don't really like them. Watain, as much as I love them, what the fuck with the blood? I don't spend $20 to go to a show then get rotten blood all over me and have to almost burn my clothes to get rid of the stench. I guess I should have expected that, but still it seems pretty corny.

Doesn't seem like the Masquerade really cares who opens as long as the band guarantees a lot of presales.

You are crazy. And it was "Dethroned Emperor."

Black Anvil wasn't so much my thing, although I did enjoy the sort of NYC sound to the drums. They reminded me a lot of Vinnie Signorelli, from Unsane. Which was kind of a refreshing change from the blast-a-thon that is most Black Metal centered music.

Speaking of, I thought Goatwhore absolutely killed. This was the third time that I've seen them, and I had a very different reaction from the other shows. It made me curious to check into their discography.

Watain was over the top. I think I got hit during the first "baptism" and I saw some kid walk past, holding his arms out in front of him like they were possessed, reeking of death. During the strobe show (and what the fuck is up with strobes aimed at the audience? that trends needs to end), I could clearly see blood spatter on the floor. And I was probably standing 15 feet away.

I think Erik Danielsson might be just a little bit insane.

I didn't think the smell was all that bad. And the incense helped. I have to admit, though, that when Danielsson lit that torch or whatever, two thoughts went through my head: (1) he's going to breath fire; and (2) it's about to get all Great White in here. I didn't expect it to get all Gonesh.

This was easily at the top of my shows for the year.

i thought he was going to blow fire too.

watain were great, but i felt kinda let down during their opening number. goatwhore killed and watain sounded.....blah. then either the sound caught on or i caught up to the sound but after the opening number it was great.

i only got a little blood on my head, but today at work for whatever reason i caught that smell again. sense memory or i need to bathe more often.
