Zeke is my favorite band ever. Motorhead is a close second and Bad Brains a solid third.

Sabotage crushes every other sabbath album.

and I'd take mercyful fate over king's solo output hands down, both are awesome, but the Nuns Have No Fun EP and Melissa are masterworks.

Could never stomach the voice. It just didn't fit in with my conception of metal.
Blasphemy! King Diamond/Mercyful fate rule. I've probably told this to anyone I've gotten drunk with but king d is like if Yngwie tried to make a black metal band, cold atmosphere and sick shredding. the best!
Except I never liked Yngwie Malmsteen. I bought the Rising Force album back in the day and tried really hard to persuade myself that I liked it, but I failed.

I didn't try so hard with Mercyful Fate -- a friend of mine had Melissa and I gave it a little bit of a listen, but not much. To my way of thinking, shrieking falsettos are much like keyboards and lyrics about cherry pie -- they have next to no application in metal.

Knucklehead brings up a good point:

This might be the actual moment when metal died. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Stay vigilant, people.

Exact same here. Even saw him live. I just really don't give a shit about talent. Songwriting, impact and the fun factor are so much more important.

Nuts! You owe it to yourself to go back and spin Melissa and Don't Break the Oath again. Seriously. Be kind to yourself.

There is no way to dislike this. And the falsettos are kept to a minimum, comparatively speaking. Go on, just press play. It's right there. This is the song that got me into MF, and to me it's their best. The whole Return of the Vampire comp is fucking stellar.

I appreciate the effort, chief, and I accept that I might very well be a minority of one. But that doesn't do it for me. I hear Maiden, I hear Priest, and ... what ... Montrose, maybe?

After hearing "Fight Fire with Fire" and "Evil Has No Boundaries," that sort of operatic/theatrical/whatever metal just didn't do it for me, because it has too much of a '70's vibe to it. Or, at least, that is the only way that I know how to describe it.

I think you owe someone an apology.

That's a pretty eloquent 26 year old he's got for a wife.
