Pretty sure I found a legit one. I'm convinced it's impossible to sound intelligent in any way when discussing Varg/Burzum. I'll just leave it at, I love it.
Subtext.

Funny thing bout Burzum now is how anyone discussing his new stuff is compelled to take a side on his extracurricular activities and sociopolitical leanings.

Valid. I will admit that I am curious about what happens to the revenue generated by Burzum releases and merchandizing nowadays. Does it go straight to pay off his legal obligations or does he net some coin? Just curious...

Ultimately, I could give a fuck about anyone's politics. I have my own and no one is shaking them up. I know who and what I am, no dope with a microphone is going to make me suddenly join Aryan Nations, sacrifice goats, hail the new dawn or even nod along with Rush Limbaugh. I can enjoy The Redskins, Satanic Warmaster, The Blaggers, Brutal Attack, T(I)NC, the Indigo Girls and Burzum in the same listening session. Whatever's clever. I may choose not to financially support certain organizations/bands, but I'm happy to steal their music off the 'net.

The other thing about talking about Varg/Burzum is that people come down with either the "he's such a genius" or "he's just scamming all of you" arguments, neither of which sounds particularly intelligent to me.

I sure managed a lot of words there without actually talking about Varg/Burzum, huh?

The proceeds from Belus went to Haiti.

Not joking.

I like yr style, sister. I don't care about politics either. And I don't get the scamming thing. It's music. He's making it b/c he's a musician. It's not some semi-elaborate joke on you, the "consumer."

I don't think he's a genius, either, but some of his music gives me chillbumps. Not much else does. And I think I tried to tell Brian asmuch the other night at Spewtilator, but I was blacked out and "out of order."

There are bands you hear at certain strategic pts in yr life. Burzum was one of those for me. It means something and will continue to mean something regardless of what he does or doesn't do from here on out. Same w/ Maiden and Ozzy. Just happens that way.

the most significant personal impact Burzum has had on my life was the song "War" which I now use to express my amusement of things

"this is, huh, wow"

Sourvein. Just found out they're playing Nashville in March. Fuck yes.

And the new Korpiklaani leaked. It bored me to death.

houston is a hotbed of killer grind as of late.

def check out:

PLF (Pretty Little Flower) - in particular the Pulverizing Lethal Force and Crushing Fury of Bastardization LPs, all their shit is great though. sick grind with thrashy mosh parts

N.I.B.I.R.U.
- War Before Extinction and Visions of a Terminal Reality. noisy as shit death/grind

War Master
- Chapel of the Apocalypse. old school death metal / bolt thrower worship

Hatred Surge
- Deconstruct and the split with Mammoth Grinder. excellent grindviolence. early stuff had dual vocals with a chick singer but now Rahi (former insect warfare vocalist) does the aux vocals. the mg split is my favorite stuff yet

Mammoth Grinder -Extinction of Humanity and HS split. their early stuff was more in the hardcore vein but EoH is old school death metal riffing combined with d beat goodness. same for the HS split

i'm probably forgetting one but that's a good start...
