That would make sense. I've been there for several events including the last few Breaklantas. The competitions were on stage, but there was spontaneous breaking all over the place. It's a shame that those ended. They were a real culture shock and totally fun. I remember seeing a three year old who could break down like it was 81. So yeah, it would make more sense for that than for moshing.

Mark's actually a pretty nice guy whenever I run into him. He's at most of the bigger metal/metal-ish shows in town and does run some kind of interview/review site. Think Roadrunner, Century Media, etc. kind of stuff. No real acknowledgment of underground/DIY/local and regional scenes unfortunately. He seems to have an audience though.

I've never really understood what metal Mark did exactly. I usually see his face around the more "trendy" death metal shows. Does he help put on the shows or does he just do solo work doing interviews?

As far as locals go, he comes out to a ton of shows and always encourages his friends to do the same. He's also done unsigned album/demo reviews on the site. I don't know. fwiw, the list of people that give a shit about my band is very small but much appreciated, so I'm glad to count him on that list.
