I don't remember it as waiting for tickets; I thought it was swilling Busch and MD 20/20 and listening to cassettes until the a.m. manager rolled up in his beat up Toyota and asked where the line started...

Then there was the goddamn lottery thing that destroyed camping out.

Pendergrass flea market is insane, but I was let down that there wasn't a creepy death metal booth.

Camping out for tickets ruled. Such good times of cheap beer, acid and hanging out with all kinds of insaniacs. And the cops never came around. So odd.

My memory is that the lottery thing came into play in about 86 after a bunch of schmucks were waiting for Bon Jovi tickets at the Northlake Turtles and started a mini-riot at, like, 10pm the night before. I remember driving by, watching them and wondering what the fuck they hoped to accomplish. Amateurs.

I camped out for shows I didn't even intend buying tickets for. There was nothing else to do on Friday night unless there was a band playing at the Metroplex or someone's folks were outta town.

Egg-sactly. That's the only reason that I could have been up there that night. Not that I hated that band, just that I wouldn't have camped for them or really wanted to see them, though I have to admit that I did see them once at the Omni opening for .38 Special, funny one that.

I only vaguely remember Night Flight. What channel was it on?

I have loads of VHS full of Night Flight and other similar stuff. It's all boxed up out of reach. I would love to get it all transfered to DVD, but, man, what an undertaking that would be. I did buy several hundred hours of NF on DVD from some dude off eBay or some such place a few years back for, like, $60.

Night Flight was on USA and ran from, like, 11pm-5am on Saturday nights. Lisa Robinson hosted a lot of it and it ran punk rock movies, all kinds of obscure videos, interviews and other shit that corrupted my life and ensured that I could never be a normal member of society. Where else was a twelve year old supposed to learn about The Residents? I owe NF a tattoo for all it did to/for me.

How about when the Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder would run an hour of interviews with fuckers like Paul Weller, Joan Jett and the Plasmatics or similar maniacs?

If you don't have this, Stew, you need it ASAP:

Don't say that, man. It's much easier to complain about a mild headache after pulling an all-nighter of free-basing liquid wrench when you're young and stupid than it is to complain about knee problems and prostate exams.

I remember Wendy O. Williams sawing a car in half on his show. I think I saw Ted Nugent perform in a loin cloth on that show, too.

I have about 20 something DVD's worth. Sadly they're all from the early 90's. I wish I could track down all those great episodes from the 80's.
