Kroger.GameFreac wrote:I used to park along the side of the Masquerade where it was free but I always see it's blocked off now. I can pay the $5 in the lot but I'm stingy and want to save it if I can. Would you guys recommend any places to park for free around there that aren't sketchy?
Just pass the masquerade and turn in to the next left i believe. You'll end up right behind Kroger and just park on the side of the store and walk down to the masq.

Because after a certain time, they will tow your vehicle. I have seen it happen many times. It happened to a friend of mine on Halloween 2010. They will take your vehicle to the Buckhead Tow Yard, which is really in the shit hole section of ATL.
It is better for you to just simply fork over $5 instead of paying the tow yard $160+... that is IF you have everything with you to prove that the vehicle is yours.
Yep. They will tow your shit, Jake got lucky and walked up as dude had his truck on the flatbed and convinced him to not tow it... for $40.JägerWolf wrote:NO! DO NOT EVER!CAlexanderParra wrote:

If you don't mind a bit of a walk turn right down Glen Iris Dr. (The last intersection on North Ave with a light before you get to Masq if you're coming from 75) and just past Morgan St (The road that used to connect to the side street by Masq everyone used to park on) there are parallel parking spaces on the left that continue down Dallas St which is the next road on the left after you cross Morgan St. There aren't that many but if you want to save the $5 it's worth a shot, I've never parked there but I know they exist and you can see them on google maps if you zoom in. I know the fence around the Masq parking lot used to be fucked up so you could probably cut through there and save some time.

Also, I'd say if you want to park at the Kroger park out front, close to the building... it's 24 hours so they will probably assume you're vehicle belongs to someone who is shopping and you won't be as likely to get towed. It's your call though.

I ALWAYS park on the street just after the Kroger. There's an entrance to the back of the Kroger from this street...if you see this entrance, it's the right street. It's the street before the Clermont Lounge. It's all residential and not sketchy. The people who live on that street park their cars on it all the time. So I do the same!
Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard too and would rather spend that $5 on beer instead

I ended up doing this. When I got back, there was a ticket on the car behind me so I thought there would be one on mine too but luckily there wasn't. I think that car had been there for days and it said if it was there for 5 more days, it would be impounded, but mine was only there for a few hours so I guess I was fine. When I got the Masq, the side street was blocked by cones but there was a bunch of cars parked so I have no clue how people got to park there. Maybe it's open earlier in the day. Not sure.

Glad that worked out for you dude. Like I said, I've never parked there before but I think those are all business' right there along that strip and I haven't noticed any signs saying you can't park there after hours. Were you able to cut through the Masq's lot or did you just hoof it back down to North Ave?GameFreac wrote:I ended up doing this. We have to be there early as fuck Saturday to load in for DRI so i'll see if the side street is open then and ask them what the deal is with it being blocked off.
My thoughts exactly, though it doesn't connect to Morgan street and just dead ends at that business w/ the fenced in lot back there so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.badcarburetor wrote:I'd like to know why Masquerade is allowed to close off the street right next to club. It's still a public street isn't it?

Isn't GA Power back there still?Ryan wrote:My thoughts exactly, though it doesn't connect to Morgan street and just dead ends at that business w/ the fenced in lot back there so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.badcarburetor wrote:I'd like to know why Masquerade is allowed to close off the street right next to club. I was walking into a show recently and some Masquerade employee was talking to some people trying to pull down that road and I overheard him say "usually if people are allowed to park down here they get permission from (some Masquerade managers names)"
"God created the devil? At least he did *something* cool." Homer J. Simpson
Yeah I didn't see any signs either.Ryan wrote:Glad that worked out for you dude. I just walked down Glen Iris and walked to the Masq.
As for the show, it was pretty good but I'd seen Symphony X w/ Epica and Into Eternity a few years back and they played a very similar setlist so it wasn't really anything new or too amazing. I also saw Powerglove w/ Turisas a few years back so I think I woulda had way more fun if I hadn't seen either band before.
