What kind of gear do you have???
Yeah yeah yeah this will be a wankfest topic but its always cool to see what people are playing through and what they think is awesome and why. I'm mainly a guitar player so I'll tell you what I'm going through
1. Guitar - Ibanez S520EX black with Custom pickup on bridge - Cream and black mix of course and I strictly use Dava picks, the green ones
2. Amp - I have a Bugera 6260 combo - I love this thing definitely comparable to the 6505 and 5150 once you get all the chinese crap out if it that is lol. Got EL34's in it at the moment to give it more of a classic feel.
I'll post picks of the stuff soon. You all should do the same!!!

Oh shit, here we go.
Picks
All Dunlop
Jazz III
Tortex Sharp 1.5mm
Ultex Sharp 1.14mm (currently)
They just released new tortex sharps in the shape of the ultexs ones. Might be cool to check out.
Guitars- from bridge pickup to neck
Ibanez Prestige RG2550 - Dimarzio X2N/AirNorton (may be traded for 2 emg 89's)
Ibanez RGA32 - EMG 85/81
Ibanez RG7420 - Stock for now (thinking of dimarzio crunchlab/liquifire)
Yamaha Pacifica311MS - Dimarzio True Velvet/GFS P-90 (thinking of SD hotrail/59')
Pedal
Maxon OD808
Amp
Peavey JSX (EL34, XSr mod)- Peavey XXX Cabinet with the sheffield speakers.
Sounds sick.

Hell yeah dude, I bet that JSX screams man!!! I'm not a MESA or Marshall kinda guy at all and when i heard the tone from a JSX I was like damn there's alot of potential in this amp!!! seems like you can mod the shit out of those things. Play a show out so i can hear the devastation that amp puts out dude!!! DAMN, get your ass rollin on getting a band going!!!! I can also see your an Ibanez man hahahaha and a Die hard one at it too. I use to have a Black ESP-LTD M-400 with EMG 85/81 that I changed all hardware to gold. Man that was a beauty..... its gone now though :'(. You got some quality shit there dude!!!

Thanks man, the amp is absolutely insane for sure! Haha, I'm not much of a Marshall or Mesa guy either. Marshalls seem so noisy to me and Mesa's, while I do like them, they're just way over my budget. However I'd gladly pickup a mesa cab for a good price.MaleficSounds wrote:Hell yeah dude, I bet that JSX screams man!!! I'm not really into modding though I'm actually retarded when it comes to electronics and soldering. But the Xsr mod is hilarious. It's just the Jsx logo upside down so it looks like i have some badass never before heard of amp hahaha. Shitty unnecessarily large picture here.

That sucks about the M-400, seems like a wonderful guitar, and in my opinion every metal guitarist needs at least 1 guitar with EMGs on it. The response you get from them is just damn near perfect.
We'll see if I get out to do some shows this summer though. I'll definitely let ya know about it!
Guitars:
BC Rich Platinum Series Beast - black w/ silver taper, diamond inlays, stock BDSM humbuckers. My main guitar. Sounds great for metal tones. I record 80% of Algarothsyum's music with this guitar.
BC Rich NJ Series ST - maroon metallic w/ gold hardware, old-school Kahler Flyer trem, stock single and dual hums. This guitar is a 1986 I believe. I once sold it, regretted it heavily, and ended up getting it back. Never again. Doesn't really have balls for metal, but for warm and clean tones, it sounds fantastic.
BC Rich NJ Series Ironbird - in restoration. Got it all gutted, sanded, but it's in storage for now while I'm in training. I can't wait to get back on this thing and finish it. Already got a color/paint scheme planned out. I haven't decided on pickups yet, but I do want to replace the old hums.
Digitech RP150 guitar processor - what I used to record everything for the Algarothsyum demo. It records via USB. I also had a set of Roland TD-3 V-drums, which I used on the demo as well. I was able to record them through this processor. Ghetto? Maybe, but I think it sounds pretty damn good. I spent a lot of time tweaking and experimenting to get good production values with this pedal, and my computer.
Drums - Ludwig Element 6-piece, orange/copper metallic finish. I traded in my V-drums for this kit. It's an awesome kit; the nicest one I've owned yet. I had Iron Cobra pedals but I sold them last year.
I don't own any amps. I plan to in the near future, but it's gonna have to wait for now.

Guitars
Daily players
2 x '86 re-issue Gibson Melody Makers with only rear Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pick-ups and Grover tuners. Single cutaways. I love these guitars more than life itself and they are pretty much the only ones that I use in a band context. Black and the pick-ups are red.
Jackson JSX Custom 94
Daily banger at home. Plays sick as fuck. Some kind of active EMGs that I bought the same day I got it at American Music. I recently ripped out the two single coils, because I only use the rythem one anyway and pulled out all the other switches except the volume knob. Blocked off trem. Black.
Others
83 Les Paul Custom Silverburst
I got this thing for $850 back in the mid-90s at a Hotlanta Guitar Show the from the same vendor on the same day that I got...
65 Mosrite Ventures II
$450. This vender must have had Alzheimer's or some shit. I've been trying to replace all the damage someone did to it once upon a time. It's nearly "original" now. Weird purpley color. I think there is one just like it on the cover of a Teenage Head album.
Kramer Barretta 2008 reissue of the 85 model
All stock except, a pick-up swap to a Super Distortion (I think). I still have the original pick-up in the case. Blocked off tremolo
93 (I think) Fender Jazz Bass Mexican made
Anyone who played those early 90s Mexican Made basses knows that they were the bang for the buck at the time. Great bass. Stock.
Some piece of crap acoustic that I want to shoot with my shotgun. I bought it as a factory second from Miller's. I was thinking that my luthier could make it decent for me. And he did. But only for aminute. Then it fell apart. Just junk. I want a nice acoustic, but have never found one that plays enough like an electric.
I'm pretty sure that I'm blanking on another guitar, but maybe I've just bought and sold so many that I can't keep them straight anymore.
Amps
Practice space/live depending on the situation:
I Morley A/B box two rig with a Korg Pitchblack Chromatic Pedal Tuner
which is far and away the best pedal tuner I've ever used:
The first rig is a Sovtek Mig 100 head that's been hotrodded as fuck and sounds gnarlier than a Mig 100h. Again, much like the Mexi-basses. If you've played these you know how awesome they are how cheap they were. Played through a run of the mill early 80s Marshall slant front JCM 4x12.
The second rig is a heavily Bakos modded mid 80s JCM 800 50 watt head that's run through a run of the mill early 80s Marshall flat front JCM 4x12. It's still a bit crisp compared to the very warm Sovtek. Together they can't be beat for what I do.
If I can only play half my rig live, I use the Sovtek set up. Man, that's a killer amp. Too bad those heads are so off balance. Makes them a bitch to carry.
Round the house amps
Marshall JCM 800 2x12, some little Orange 10 watter and 9Volt battery powered Epiphone for home fun.
I also have an old Bedrock 1200 head that sounds great, but is just collecting dust. It's a cool amp that was endorsed by Nigel Tufnel in the 80s. Hand made in the USA and all the knobs go to 11. There's nothing else like it.
Random
I've got a Pearl Export kit that gets used ocassionally. I have no idea what all the cymbals, pedals and shit are. I can't play it at all, but it's good to have just like a PA.
I have a gazillion pedals and other crap that I don't need or want, but haven't sorted through, yet.
I know I'm forgetting a ton of shit. I've just collected this junk over the years, usually unintentionally.

Ok, since you asked.

From L to R: BCR Platinum Beast, BCR Rave Warlock (sold it a few years ago), BCR NJ ST, Ibanez AX 7-string (sold it last year)

My current drumkit - Ludwig Element 6-piece. LOVE these things. They're sitting in storage right now, and I can't friggin' wait to play them again.

My V-drums which I traded in for the Ludwigs. I recorded a lot with these.

The NJ Ironbird. This is why I'm restoring it. Some fuckwagon decided to spraypaint over the original red paintjob, in some horrid asstastic spray can camo job. Trust me, it looked a lot worse in person. And the wiring was all jacked up too, so it's completely gutted now. It's unfortunate, really. But I had to have the guitar, since the Ironbird is my favorite shape ever, AND it's an NJ Series. $150 at a pawn/music shop.

My current dust collectors: '92 signature 5150 (bias modded...running at about 34 mA right now with JJ's for power, JJ's with a Groovetube in the V1 position for preamp) on top. RG100 below that. Randall stereo 4x12 with Jensen/Jaguar speakers, and a hefty Vader 4x12 at the bottom loaded with Eminence Legends. Also run a BBE Sonic Maximizer through the RG100. My main player worth a shit is a late 90's Jackson PS-4. Put the DiMarzio dp207 at the bridge a few years ago.

Hey Vhyle, what's the deal with NJ series gear. When I was a kid I had three early-mid 80s NJs: a black Warlock bass, a yellow (ugh) Bich and a white Mockingbird. Motherfuckers sounded like ass and never stayed in tune. I always thought they were bottom of the barrel. You seem to dig yours though. Were they "student" gear or was I just unlucky?
Fuck, I knew I was forgetting something. I just remembered one other guitar I have an 83 black Explorer with a Pearly Gates in it. Fucker SCREAMS, but I don't like the way it's balanced or the scale of the neck so I don't play it live.
I can get some shots at the practice space tonight, but most of my guitars are still packed up from moving. I can take pics of large piles of gear cases, ha.

i actually play a B.C. Rich Virgin (lol) N.J. series. it played alright for a few years but then i just had to get a "set up" and its played great ever since and stayed in tune better. if i had the money though, i would definitely get a new guitar.
my amp isn't even worth mentioning. it gets the job done though.
