sounds like something I need to check outDeathfareDevil wrote:theRothstanator wrote: Anyway, back to the thread topic...I watched House the other day and it was the shit. It's this Japanese horror movie from '77 that was aimed at a teenage female audience and the effects were awesome and it was visually impressive
That movie's on Hulu, ad-infested though it may be, should anyone need to see it right this instant. I've been meaning to check it out.

anyone into serial killer stuff or just general creepy insanity owes it to themselves to check out the 1974 grindhouse gem Deranged. In my opinion its one of the most haunting movies out there, based on the killi gs of Ed Gein, with a much more realistic grounding in the real facts than Psycho or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And the main dude is played by the shovel guy from Home Alone. It really wins all over the place. Its on streaming netflix if anyone wants to watch it.

Man, I can't wait for Human Centipede II!!!
The Human Centipede sequel just too horrible to show, says BBFC
I watched Backwoods. It was okay. The gore was decent and I didn't want to slap Haylie Duff. I just have an observation:
This company sends the employees out on a team-building paintball retreat in the woods. They are divided into two teams: Team Beta consists of a girl, a black dude, an asian dude with an inhaler, and one white dude. Team Alpha contains the manager of the company, the top-billed actress, and two dudes, all white people. Knowing what I know about horror movies, if I'm picked for that first team, I'm gonna go ahead and wait in the car.

Thanks for recommending this. I just got around to streaming it on Netflix. It was my test viewing for my new Samsung HITB. Sounded rad as fuck, but I'd love to rescore it with some creepy black metal in certain spots. I think the mix was meant to be. It seems to me that this flick would probably appeal to most folks on here for subject matter and tone. I need to watch it again.Knucklehead wrote:Just watched The Black Death. It is appropriately bleak.
It reminded me a bit of Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America. Both are bleak as fuck and (IMO) very engaging. It's funny how some people love, Severed Ways, others hate it and some just can't get past "that one scene."

Have you seen Severed Ways? What did ya think? It's pretty much of a love it or hate it kind of flick.

severed ways
i like most historical epics , it could have used a bigger budget for sure as the concept was better than the execution

I enjoyed it for its simpleness. The ginger star was also the writer, director, set builder, etc...From what I read, the whole crew went out into the woods for weeks to build the sets as they shot and basically lived it as they made it. To me, they made the most of very little and, for that, I extra dig that flick. But, I know I'm in the minority as most people just think it's fucking stupid. Heh.
